Frequently asked questions
What is Organization schema used for?
Organization markup tells search engines the official name, logo, website, contact details and profiles of a company, nonprofit or other organization. Google can use it to choose the logo shown in results and to understand which profiles belong to the organization.
Which page should have Organization markup?
Put it on one page that represents the organization, usually the home page or the About page. You do not need to repeat it on every page.
Are there required properties?
Google lists no required properties for Organization; it recommends adding as many relevant ones as apply, such as name, url, logo, sameAs, address, contactPoint, telephone and email, plus identifiers like vatID or taxID if they exist.
What are the logo requirements?
The logo should be at least 112 × 112 pixels, be crawlable and indexable, and look right on a white background. A square or near-square PNG, JPG or WebP file is the safest choice.
What should go in sameAs?
Add the URLs of your official profiles and reference pages: LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, GitHub, Wikipedia or Wikidata, and similar. Only add profiles that you control or that are about your organization.
Should I use Organization or LocalBusiness?
Use LocalBusiness (or a subtype like Restaurant or Dentist) for a physical location customers visit or a business serving a local area. Use Organization for the company as a whole, an online-only business, or a nonprofit. A chain can use Organization on its home page and LocalBusiness on each location page.
Can I add star ratings to Organization markup?
Google does not show review stars for Organization or LocalBusiness markup based on reviews the organization collects about itself, so this generator does not include aggregateRating.
