How to use the Ukulele Chord Chart
Choose the tuning: standard GCEA for soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles, or DGBE for baritone.
Pick a root and chord type, or type a chord name and press Find chord.
Read the diagram: the four vertical lines are the strings (G C E A from left), dots are where to press and the number is the finger to use. ○ means play the open string.
Press Play strum to hear it, or click any shape. Try Play strum pattern to practise the rhythm.
Pick a key under Chords in a key to see the chords of a song, then press Print chord chart.
Most common ukulele chords (GCEA)
Shapes are written from the G string to the A string. A number is the fret to press, 0 is an open string. These are the first shapes most players learn.

Tips for playing ukulele chords
Keep common fingers down. Moving from C (0003) to Am (2000) to F (2010) is easiest when you plan which fingers stay in place.
Movable shapes. A shape without open strings can slide up the neck: B♭ (3211) moved up one fret is B (4322), two frets is C (5433).
Press just behind the fret, with fingertips arched so they don't mute the next string. A barre (one finger across several strings) works best with the side of the index finger.
Baritone players: read the same shape as a chord a 4th lower than on GCEA, or switch the tuning above to see the right names.
Frequently asked questions
What are the easiest ukulele chords for beginners?
C (0003), A minor (2000), F (2010) and G (0232) cover hundreds of songs and use only one to three fingers. Add C7 (0001), A7 (0100) and D (2220) next. The numbers are the frets on the G, C, E and A strings, where 0 means open.
How do you read a ukulele chord diagram?
The diagram is the neck seen from the front with the headstock at the top. Vertical lines are the strings, G C E A from left to right, and horizontal lines are frets. A dot shows where to press, the number inside is the finger (1 index, 2 middle, 3 ring, 4 pinky), ○ above a string means play it open and × means don't play it.
Why do ukulele chords have the 5th or root missing?
A ukulele has only four strings, so chords with four or five notes, such as 9ths, cannot use all their notes. The 5th is the least important note and is usually left out. Triads have three notes, so one note is played twice.
Are baritone ukulele chords the same as guitar chords?
Yes. A baritone ukulele is tuned D-G-B-E, the same as the four highest strings of a guitar, so its shapes match the top four strings of guitar chords. The same shape gives a different chord name than on a GCEA ukulele: the GCEA C shape (0003) is a G chord on baritone.
What is the difference between high G and low G tuning?
Standard ukulele tuning is re-entrant: the G string is tuned higher than the C string, which gives the bright, close sound of a ukulele. Low-G tuning drops that string an octave for a deeper range. The chord shapes are the same; only the sound changes.
How do I find the chords in a key on ukulele?
Every major key contains the chords I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi and vii°. In C major those are C, Dm, Em, F, G, Am and Bdim, and G7 is the usual dominant 7th. Choose the key in the Chords in a key section to see all the shapes, then print them.
