Combine several spreadsheets into one file: keep each file as its own worksheet in a single workbook, or stack all rows into one sheet with columns matched by header name. Works with XLSX, XLS, ODS and CSV, entirely in your browser.

How to use the Merge Excel Files
Add your files by dropping them on the box or clicking it. Three small sample files are shown until you add your own.
Choose a merge mode: Append rows into one sheet to stack the data, or One sheet per file to collect the files as tabs of one workbook.
Pick the sheets to use from each workbook: the first sheet only or all visible sheets.
Set the header options: match columns by name, ignore case and spaces, and add a Source column.
Check the preview and the per-file row counts, reorder files with the arrows if needed.
Download the merged file as .xlsx or CSV.
Append rows or one sheet per file?
Append rows into one sheet
One sheet per file
Result
One long table with a single header row
One workbook with a tab for each file (or each sheet)
Best for
Monthly exports, regional reports, survey batches with the same columns, data for a pivot table
Collecting separate reports into one file to send or archive
Column matching
By header name or by position
Not needed: sheets are copied as they are
Source tracking
Optional Source column with the file (and sheet) name
Sheet names are taken from the file names
Output
.xlsx or .csv
.xlsx
How header matching works
When you append, the first file's header defines the starting column order. Every following file is read header by header: a column whose name matches an existing column is placed under it, and a new name becomes a new column at the right. Rows from files that do not have that column get an empty cell. For example, merging a file with Date, Region, Units and one with Units, Date, Region, Notes produces Date, Region, Units, Notes, with Notes blank for the first file's rows.
If two columns in the same file share a name, the second one is kept as a separate column called Name (2) rather than being merged into the first. If your files have no header row, untick First row is a header and columns are stacked strictly by position.
Tips for a clean merge
Check the warning list under the preview: a column that appears in only one file usually means a header was spelled differently, such as Qty versus Quantity. Rename it in the source and merge again.
Keep the Source column when you will filter or pivot the result; it records exactly which file each row came from.
Excel limits a worksheet to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns and a sheet name to 31 characters. Long file names are shortened automatically and duplicates get a (2), (3) suffix.
Need to clean up afterwards? Remove repeated rows with the duplicate remover, or merge plain CSV files with the CSV merger.
Frequently asked questions
How do I combine multiple Excel files into one?
Add all the files here, choose One sheet per file and download: you get a single .xlsx workbook in which each original file is a separate worksheet named after the file. If you want all the data in one table instead, choose Append rows into one sheet.
What happens if my files have columns in a different order?
With Match columns by header name switched on, the tool lines up columns by their header text, not their position. A Revenue column lands under Revenue even if it is the second column in one file and the fifth in another. Columns that only exist in some files are added at the end and left blank for the others.
Can I merge files whose headers differ only in capitals or spaces?
Yes. Ignore case and extra spaces treats headers like 'Order ID', 'order id' and ' Order ID' as the same column. Turn it off if you need exact matching.
Does it keep formulas and formatting?
No. The merged file contains the values of each cell (the last calculated result of formulas), with dates kept as real Excel dates. Cell colours, fonts, merged cells, charts and formulas are not copied, which keeps the result clean and fast to open.
Can I merge CSV files with Excel files?
Yes. CSV, TSV, XLSX, XLSM, XLS and ODS files can be mixed. CSV delimiters (comma, semicolon, tab or pipe) are detected automatically and numbers and ISO dates become real numeric and date cells.
Is there a limit on the number of files or rows?
There is no fixed limit; the work is done in your browser's memory. Tens of files and a few hundred thousand rows merge comfortably on a typical computer. An Excel sheet itself holds at most 1,048,576 rows, so very large appends are better downloaded as CSV.
Are my spreadsheets uploaded?
No. The files are read and merged with JavaScript on your device and the result is created locally, so confidential data never leaves your computer.
