Markdown Table Generator

Type into the grid, or paste cells straight from Excel, Google Sheets or a CSV file, and a neatly aligned Markdown table is written for you. Set each column's alignment, sort, transpose, then copy it into your README, docs or notes.

How to use the Markdown Table Generator

1. Fill in the grid. The first row (H) is the header. Press Enter to move down; pressing Enter on the last row adds a new one.
2. Or bring in data: copy a range in Excel or Google Sheets and paste it into a cell, or click Import data to paste CSV, TSV or a Markdown table.
3. Set alignment with the L, C and R buttons above each column. Use ⇅ to sort, + to insert a column and × to delete one.
4. Choose the output style: aligned (pretty) columns, with or without the outer pipes.
5. Copy the Markdown or download it as a .md file. Check the Preview tab to see how it renders.

Markdown table syntax

A GitHub Flavored Markdown table has a header row, a separator row and any number of body rows:

Inside cells you can use inline Markdown: **bold**, _italic_, `code`, [links](https://example.com) and ~~strikethrough~~. Escape a literal pipe as \|.

Tips for readable tables

• Right-align numbers so digits line up, and center short status values such as Yes/No.
• Keep cells short. Long paragraphs make tables hard to read on phones; link to details instead.
• Use the pretty option when the table lives in a README that people read as plain text. Turn it off for very wide tables to keep diffs small.
