How to use the YouTube Timestamp Link Generator
Paste the YouTube link (or just the video ID) into the first box.
Type the start time as you see it in the player, for example 1:23 or 1:02:03.
Add a stop time if you want an embedded player to stop at a certain point.
Copy the link you need: short link, full link, embed URL or iframe code.
For several moments, switch to Multiple timestamps, paste one time and label per line, and copy the whole list or the chapters.

&end= seconds
…/embed/VIDEO_ID?start=83&end=165
Seconds are counted from the very start of the video: seconds = hours × 3600 + minutes × 60 + seconds. For example 1:02:03 is 3600 + 120 + 3 = 3,723 seconds.

Tips for timestamp links
Start a few seconds early. Viewers get context if the link starts 2 to 5 seconds before the moment you want to show.
Timestamps in comments become links. Writing 1:23 in a YouTube comment or description turns it into a clickable time automatically, so you only need full links when sharing elsewhere.
Use chapters for long videos. A chapter list in the description adds a segmented progress bar and helps viewers and search engines find each section.
The end parameter only works in embeds. Regular watch links keep playing past your stop time; use an embed with start and end to show just one clip.
Frequently asked questions
How do I link to a specific time in a YouTube video?
Add t= and the start time in seconds to the link. For a short link that is https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID?t=83, and for a full link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=83s. 83 seconds is 1:23. This tool converts the time and builds both links for you.
Can I use minutes in the t parameter, like t=1m23s?
Yes. YouTube understands t=1m23s and t=1h2m3s as well as plain seconds. Plain seconds are the most widely supported format across apps and embeds, so the generator uses them.
How do I make an embedded YouTube video start at a certain time?
Embeds use start= instead of t=, in whole seconds: https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID?start=83. Add &end=165 to stop playback at 2:45. The generator creates both the embed URL and full iframe code.
Why does my timestamp not work on YouTube Shorts?
The Shorts player (youtube.com/shorts/ID) ignores start times. Converting the Short to a normal watch or youtu.be link with ?t= opens it in the regular player, where the timestamp works. The tool does this automatically.
How do I share YouTube at the current time from the app?
In the YouTube website, right-click the video and choose Copy video URL at current time, or tick Start at in the Share dialog. In the mobile app there is no start-time option, so note the time and use this generator.
What are the rules for YouTube chapters?
List timestamps in the video description in ascending order. The first must be 0:00, there must be at least three, and each chapter must be at least 10 seconds long. Choose YouTube chapters in Copy as to check the list against these rules.
Does the timestamp work with a playlist link?
Yes. Tick Keep playlist to add list= to the link so the video opens inside its playlist at your start time. Without it, the link opens the single video.
