How to use the Social Share Link Generator
Paste the page URL you want people to share. https:// is added if you leave it out.
Write a short title and, optionally, a description, hashtags, your X username and an image for Pinterest.
Pick the networks you want; Popular only selects the eight most used.
Copy a link from the Links tab, or switch to Button HTML to copy styled share buttons for your page.
Test the links with Open to test before you publish them.
Share URL formats for each network
Every value after the = must be URL-encoded (spaces become %20, & becomes %26 and so on). Placeholders are in capitals.
Facebook, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp, Telegram and most chat apps build the link preview from tags in the shared page's <head>, not from the share link. Before promoting a page, check it has:
og:title and og:description: the headline and summary in the preview card.
og:image: an absolute https URL to an image of about 1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1); keep important text away from the edges.
og:url: the canonical address, so shares of different URL variants count together.
twitter:card set to summary_large_image for a large image on X.
Fewer is better. Three to five buttons for the networks your audience actually uses get more clicks than a long row.
Plain links are fast and private. Official share widgets load scripts and can set cookies; the HTML from this tool is just links, so it adds no weight and needs no cookie consent.
Tag the URL for analytics. Build a tagged link with the UTM Builder (for example utm_source=share&utm_medium=social) and paste it here to see how many visits shares bring.
Use the native share sheet on mobile. On phones, the Web Share API opens the device's own share menu with every installed app.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a Facebook share link?
Use https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u= followed by the URL-encoded page address. Facebook takes the title, description and image from the page's Open Graph meta tags, so text added to the link is ignored. Make sure your page has og:title, og:description and og:image tags.
What is the share link format for X (Twitter)?
https://x.com/intent/tweet?url=PAGE&text=TEXT, with optional &hashtags=tag1,tag2 (without the # signs) and &via=username. Every value must be URL-encoded. The older twitter.com/intent/tweet address still redirects to the same composer.
Why does my LinkedIn share link ignore my title?
LinkedIn's share-offsite endpoint only accepts the url parameter. The post preview is built from the Open Graph tags of the shared page, and the person sharing writes their own comment. Use LinkedIn's Post Inspector to refresh a stale preview.
Do share links track the people who click them?
The links themselves are plain URLs with no tracking added by this tool, and they do not load any scripts on your page. The social network sees the visit when the link is opened, as with any link. Add UTM tags to the page URL if you want to see shares in your own analytics.
How long can a share link be?
Browsers handle URLs of tens of thousands of characters, but keep share text short: X allows 280 characters per post (a link counts as 23), Bluesky 300, and long prefilled text on mobile apps can be cut. The tool shows each link's length and the X post length.
Can I use these share buttons in an email newsletter?
Yes. Choose Button HTML with the Colored pills or Plain text links style. The buttons use only inline styles and ordinary links, which email clients support. Emails cannot run the native share sheet, so stick to network links.
Which emoji and characters can I use in share text?
Any. The tool percent-encodes text as UTF-8, so emoji, accents, ampersands, hashes and line breaks arrive intact. Hashtags are cleaned to letters, numbers and underscores, which is what the networks accept.
Are all the tools on FreeToolCabin tested for quality and accuracy?
Yes! Every tool on our site undergoes automated Q/A testing in real browser environments to ensure high precision, correct output, and zero errors. If you happen to spot a bug or have a suggestion, please contact us at [email protected] and our team will review it right away.
