Celsius to kelvin formula
K = °C + 273.15
Take the temperature in degrees Celsius.
Add 273.15. The result is in kelvins.
Example: 25 °C + 273.15 = 298.15 K.
Reverse formula: °C = K − 273.15. Example: 300 K − 273.15 = 26.85 °C.
A change of 1 °C is exactly a change of 1 K, so temperature differences are the same number in both scales.

About celsius and kelvin
Celsius (°C). The Celsius scale sets 0 °C at the freezing point and 100 °C at the boiling point of water at sea level. One Celsius degree is the same size as one kelvin.
Kelvin (K). The kelvin is the SI unit of temperature. It starts at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C), so it never goes negative and has no degree sign.
Frequently asked questions
How do you convert Celsius to Kelvin?
Add 273.15 to the Celsius temperature. For example, 25 °C + 273.15 = 298.15 K.
Is a kelvin the same size as a degree Celsius?
Yes. Both scales have the same step size, so a rise of 10 °C is a rise of 10 K. Only the starting point differs: 0 K is absolute zero, −273.15 °C.
Why don't we say 'degrees Kelvin'?
Since 1967 the unit is simply the kelvin (symbol K, no degree sign), because it is an absolute scale rather than a relative one.
What is 20 degrees Celsius in kelvins?
20 °C is 293.15 K (room temperature).
How much is 180 degrees Celsius in kelvins?
180 degrees Celsius equals 453.15 kelvins.
