Common uses
Mailing lists: keep only name and email from a CRM export, filtered to subscribers who opted in.
Imports with a fixed layout: reorder and rename columns to match the template another system expects.
Privacy: drop sensitive columns (phone numbers, addresses) before sharing a file.
Quick JSON: turn selected columns into JSON for an app or test fixture. For full-file conversion see CSV to JSON, and to remove repeated records use the CSV Duplicate Row Remover.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract specific columns from a CSV file?
Open the CSV, then tick only the columns you want in the column list. The preview updates immediately; click Download CSV to save a new file containing just those columns, in the order shown.
Can I change the order of the columns?
Yes. Drag a column by its handle, or use the up and down arrow buttons (which also work with the keyboard). The output follows the order of the list.
How do I rename a column?
Click the column name in the list and type a new one. The new name is used as the header in the CSV or as the key in JSON; the original name is shown underneath for reference.
How do the row filters work?
Each filter tests one column with a condition such as contains, equals, is empty, greater than or a regular expression. With several filters you choose whether a row must match all of them (AND) or any of them (OR). Text comparisons ignore case unless Case-sensitive is ticked.
How are greater than and less than compared?
If both the cell and the filter value are numbers, they are compared numerically (1,200 counts as 1200). Otherwise they are compared as text in natural order, which works for ISO dates such as 2024-03-15.
Can I convert the extracted columns to JSON?
Yes. Choose JSON (array of objects) to get one object per row keyed by the column names, or JSON (array of arrays) for a compact table. Numbers and true/false values can be output as real JSON types.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The CSV is parsed and filtered entirely in your browser, so it never leaves your device.
