Implantation Calculator
Estimate when implantation could happen after ovulation. Enter the first day of your last period and cycle length, or your ovulation date, to see the implantation window, the most likely days, the earliest test date and a day-by-day DPO timeline.

Days from ovulation to period; 14 if unsure
How to use the Implantation Calculator
- Choose your starting point: last menstrual period or a known ovulation date.
- Enter the date and, for LMP, your average cycle length.
- Adjust the luteal phase if you know it (14 days is typical).
- Read the implantation window and the most likely days.
- Check the timeline for the earliest and most reliable test dates.
How implantation timing is estimated
- Ovulation = first day of last period + (cycle length − luteal phase). With a 28-day cycle and a 14-day luteal phase, ovulation is on cycle day 15 (14 days after the LMP).
- Implantation window = ovulation + 6 to 12 days.
- Most likely implantation = ovulation + 8 to 10 days.
- Earliest possible positive test ≈ ovulation + 10 days; expected period = ovulation + luteal phase.
Example: last period on March 1 with a 30-day cycle → ovulation about March 17, implantation most likely March 25–27 (window March 23–29), period due March 31.
What happens after ovulation
| Days past ovulation | Stage |
|---|---|
| 0 | Ovulation; the egg survives about 12–24 hours |
| 1 | Fertilisation in the fallopian tube |
| 3–4 | Morula, travelling toward the uterus |
| 5–6 | Blastocyst reaches the uterus and hatches |
| 6–12 | Implantation into the uterine lining (most often 8–10) |
| 10–12 | hCG may become detectable on sensitive tests |
| 14 | Expected period with a 14-day luteal phase |

Frequently asked questions
When does implantation happen?
Implantation usually happens 6 to 12 days after ovulation. In a well-known study of women trying to conceive (Wilcox et al., 1999), most successful pregnancies implanted 8 to 10 days after ovulation.
How is the implantation date calculated?
First ovulation is estimated as the first day of your last period plus your cycle length minus the luteal phase (usually 14 days). For a 28-day cycle that is day 14. The implantation window is then ovulation + 6 to 12 days, with 8–10 days most likely.
How soon after implantation can I test?
hCG starts to rise after implantation and doubles roughly every 2–3 days in early pregnancy. Very sensitive home tests may turn positive about 10–12 days after ovulation, but testing on the day of your missed period or later is far more reliable.
What are signs of implantation?
Some people notice light spotting (implantation bleeding) or mild cramping around 6–12 days after ovulation, but many have no symptoms. These signs are not reliable proof of pregnancy, as they also occur before a period.
What is DPO?
DPO means days past ovulation. Ovulation day is 0 DPO. Implantation typically happens at 6–12 DPO, and with a 14-day luteal phase your period is due at 14 DPO.
Is this calculator accurate for irregular cycles?
With irregular cycles, an estimate from the last period can be off by several days. Entering an ovulation date confirmed by ovulation tests or basal body temperature gives a much better estimate.
