About Pressure, Force & Torque Converters
Convert pressure units like psi, bar, kPa and atm, and torque units like newton meters and foot-pounds. Tire pressure, weather readings and bolt torque specs are typical reasons to use them.
Most used here: PSI to Bar, Bar to PSI and kPa to PSI.
Common pressure units
Tire and air-compressor pressure is usually given in psi in the US and bar or kPa in Europe (1 bar = 100 kPa = about 14.504 psi). Blood pressure uses mmHg, weather reports use hPa or inHg, and engineering data sheets often use MPa (1 MPa = 10 bar).
Gauge vs absolute pressure
A tire gauge shows pressure above the surrounding air (psig); absolute pressure (psia) adds roughly 14.7 psi of atmosphere at sea level. Make sure both numbers are the same kind before you compare them.
Torque units
Torque wrench settings appear in newton-meters (N·m), foot-pounds (ft·lb) and, for small fasteners, inch-pounds (in·lb). 1 ft·lb is about 1.356 N·m and 12 in·lb, so mixing them up gives a setting that is far too tight or too loose.
