Paste numbers in any shape, one per line, separated by commas or spaces, or straight from a spreadsheet or receipt, and get the exact total. Currency symbols, words and thousands separators are handled for you, and you also get the count, average, minimum and maximum.

How to use the Sum Calculator
Paste your numbers into the box: a spreadsheet column, a list of prices, or numbers separated by commas or spaces.
Pick the number format: choose 1,234.56 when commas are thousands separators, 1234.56 when commas separate numbers, or 1.234,56 for European style.
Choose which numbers to add on each line if your lines contain extra numbers, such as quantities or dates.
Read the total at the top along with the count, average, median, minimum and maximum. Results update as you type.
Check the running total table to see how each value was read, then copy the results or download the table as CSV.

Tips for accurate totals
Check the count first. If it is higher than the number of items you expected, a line probably contains an extra number such as a quantity or date; switch to the first or last number per line.
Use the running total table to spot a value that was read differently than you meant, for example a European 1.234 read as one point two three four.
Round only at the end. Leave "Round results to" empty for the exact sum, or set 2 decimals for currency.
Splitting a bill? Divide the sum by the number of people, or use the average when everyone ordered one item each.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add up a list of numbers quickly?
Paste the list into the box. Any mix of new lines, commas, spaces or tabs works, and the total appears instantly with the count and average. There is no need to type plus signs, although they are fine too.
Can I paste a column from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Copy the cells and paste them: each cell becomes a number. If you copy several columns, every number is added; use "Only the first number per line" or "Only the last number per line" to add just one column.
Does it work with dollar signs and other currency symbols?
Yes. Symbols such as $, €, £, ¥ and ₹ are recognized and shown on the results, and words like "Lunch" or "Total" are ignored. An amount in parentheses, such as ($5.00), is treated as negative, the way accounting statements show refunds.
Why does 0.1 + 0.2 give exactly 0.3 here?
Many calculators and spreadsheets store numbers in binary floating point, which can make 0.1 + 0.2 come out as 0.30000000000000004. This tool adds the numbers as exact decimals (scaled whole numbers), so sums of prices are always exact to the cent.
How are commas treated?
It depends on the number format you choose. In 1,234.56 mode a comma followed by exactly three digits is a thousands separator, so 1,250 is one number and 1,2,3 is three numbers. In 1234.56 mode every comma separates numbers. In 1.234,56 mode the comma is the decimal mark.
What happens with dates or codes in my list?
A hyphen glued between digits, as in 2024-05-01, is read as a separator, so the date becomes three numbers. Remove dates or use the first or last number per line option. A minus sign is only treated as negative when it starts a number, such as -7 or − 7.
What is the difference between this and a summation calculator?
This tool adds a list of values you already have. A summation (sigma notation) calculator adds the terms of a formula, such as n² for n from 1 to 10.
