See what is inside a .vcf contacts file before you import it anywhere. Every vCard becomes a readable contact card with its photo, phone numbers, emails, addresses, birthday and notes, and you can search, filter, spot duplicates and export the list to CSV. The file is read on your device only.

Getting a .vcf file from your phone or email
iPhone: in the Contacts app open Lists, long-press a list and choose Export, or sign in to iCloud.com, open Contacts, select contacts and choose Export vCard.
Android: Contacts app > Fix & manage (or Settings) > Export to file. The phone saves a single .vcf with all contacts.
Google Contacts: contacts.google.com > Export > vCard (for iOS Contacts).
Outlook: open a contact and use File > Save As > vCard Files (one contact per file). You can drop many of them here at once.
Tip: phone exports often contain the same person several times (from the SIM, the phone and a cloud account). Check the Possible duplicates filter before importing the file somewhere new.
Frequently asked questions
How do I open a VCF file?
Drop the .vcf file on this page or click the upload box and choose it. All contacts in the file are listed at once with their photos; click one to read every field. No app, account or import into your address book is needed, and the file stays on your device.
What is a VCF file?
VCF (Virtual Contact File) is the file extension for vCard, the standard text format for electronic business cards. One file can hold a single contact or a whole address book, each between BEGIN:VCARD and END:VCARD lines. Version 3.0 is defined in RFC 2426 and version 4.0 in RFC 6350; version 2.1 is the older format still exported by many phones.
Why do some contacts show initials instead of a photo?
Only photos embedded in the file can be shown. Some exports store a web link to the photo instead of the image itself; for privacy the viewer does not load those links and lists the address in the card. Contacts that never had a photo get colored initials.
Why do accented names look wrong in other programs?
Older vCard 2.1 files often encode names as quoted-printable with a character set such as UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1. This viewer decodes those correctly. If another program shows garbled characters, export to CSV here with the Excel-friendly option, which adds a UTF-8 byte order mark.
How are duplicates detected?
Two contacts are flagged as possible duplicates when they share the same name, an email address, or the last nine digits of a phone number, which catches the same number written with and without a country code. Use the Possible duplicates filter to review them before importing.
Can I edit contacts here?
This tool is a viewer. You can export the contacts you filtered to a CSV or a new .vcf file, download a single contact, and copy details as text. To convert between CSV and VCF for an import, use the VCF to CSV and CSV to VCF converters.
How many contacts can it open?
Address books with tens of thousands of contacts open in a few seconds. The list shows contacts in batches as you scroll and the table shows the first 1,000 rows, while search, filters and exports always cover every contact.
