Which test length should I use?
The 1 second test measures your top burst speed. 5 and 10 seconds are the standard CPS tests used by gamers. 30 and 60 seconds test stamina: most people slow down after 10 to 15 seconds, so your CPS will usually be lower in the longer modes. Compare scores within the same mode.
Clicking techniques matter too. Regular clicking with one finger usually tops out around 6 to 8 CPS. Jitter clicking (tensing your forearm so your finger vibrates) can reach 10 to 14 CPS, and butterfly clicking (alternating two fingers on one button) can go higher still. Take breaks: fast clicking for a long time can strain your hand and wrist.
Frequently asked questions
What is CPS?
CPS stands for clicks per second. It's the number of clicks you make divided by the length of the test. For example, 65 clicks in 10 seconds is 6.5 CPS.
What is a good CPS score?
Most people click 5 to 7 times per second. 8 to 10 CPS is fast, and above 10 CPS usually needs special techniques such as jitter clicking or butterfly clicking.
What is the world record for clicks per second?
Reported records for short tests are around 14 to 16 CPS with normal clicking, and higher with butterfly clicking (two fingers on one button). Records depend on the test length and rules.
How can I click faster?
Rest your wrist, keep your hand relaxed and use your fingertip rather than your whole finger. Gamers use techniques such as jitter clicking (tensing the arm to vibrate the finger) and butterfly clicking (alternating two fingers). Take breaks to avoid strain.
Does the test work on phones?
Yes. Tap the box with one or more fingers. Each tap counts as one click.
