How to use the Markdown to Word Converter
- Paste your Markdown into the left box, or open/drop a .md file. An example document is loaded to start.
- Check the preview on the right. It shows how headings, lists, tables and code will look in Word.
- Pick the document settings: font, font size, line spacing, page size, margins and page numbers.

Tips for a clean Word document
- Leave a blank line between blocks. Markdown needs an empty line before a heading, list, table or code block that follows a paragraph, otherwise it is treated as part of the paragraph.
- Nest lists with two or four spaces. Indent a list item under the one above it to create a sub-list; it becomes a lower Word list level.
- Build a table of contents in Word. Because headings use the real Heading styles, you can add one in Word with References › Table of Contents, or in Google Docs with Insert › Table of contents.
- Line breaks inside a paragraph. A single line break in Markdown joins lines into one paragraph. End a line with two spaces or a backslash to force a line break.
- Pasting instead of downloading. Copy formatted puts rich text on your clipboard. Pasting it into Word or Google Docs keeps headings, lists, tables and links, using that document's own styles.

How do I convert Markdown to Word?
Paste the Markdown into the input box or open a .md file, adjust the font and page settings if you like, then click Download .docx. The converter builds a real Word document in your browser, with heading styles, numbered lists, tables and hyperlinks.
Are Markdown headings turned into real Word headings?
Yes. # to ###### become the built-in Heading 1 to Heading 6 styles, so they appear in Word's navigation pane and can be used to build an automatic table of contents.
Can I convert a ChatGPT answer to a Word document?
Yes. Copy the answer as Markdown (the copy button under the reply copies the raw Markdown), paste it here and download the .docx. The ** bold markers, ### headings, lists and code blocks are converted into proper Word formatting.
What happens to images in my Markdown?
Images are not downloaded from the internet, because that would require sending requests to other servers and many hosts block it. Each image is written as a short placeholder with its alt text and a clickable link to the image, which you can replace in Word.
Which Markdown features are supported?
CommonMark plus GitHub Flavored Markdown: headings, paragraphs, line breaks, bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links, autolinks, bulleted, numbered, nested and task lists, blockquotes, fenced and indented code blocks, tables with alignment and horizontal rules.
