How to use the SIP Calculator
Enter the monthly SIP amount you plan to invest.
Set the expected annual return and the number of years you will keep investing.
Add an annual step-up if you plan to raise the SIP each year (for example 10%), or leave it at 0.
Read the maturity value, the total invested and the estimated returns.
Check the yearly table and chart to see how the investment grows, and download the table as CSV.
SIP formula explained
A systematic investment plan (SIP) invests the same amount every month. Each instalment compounds for the months that remain, so the maturity value is the future value of an annuity due:
Example: 5,000 a month at 12% for 10 years gives i = 0.01 and n = 120. (1.01120 − 1) ÷ 0.01 = 230.04, × 1.01 = 232.34, so FV ≈ 1,161,695 on 600,000 invested, about 561,695 of estimated returns.
With an annual step-up of s%, the instalment in year k is P × (1 + s)k−1, and the calculator adds up the future value of every instalment month by month. A 10% step-up on the same example grows to about 1,687,163 on 956,245 invested.
Value of a 1,000 monthly SIP
Maturity value of 1,000 a month (invested at the start of each month, annual rate ÷ 12). Multiply by your SIP size in thousands: a 7,500 SIP is 7.5 ×.

Tips for SIP planning
Start early. Time in the market does most of the work: doubling the period far more than doubles the returns.
Step up with your income. Even a 5–10% yearly increase has a large effect over 15–20 years.
Use realistic returns. Run a low, middle and high case rather than relying on one number.
For a fixed monthly SIP the standard formula is FV = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the annual return divided by 12 (as a decimal) and n is the number of months. The extra (1 + i) is there because SIP instalments are invested at the start of each month. For example 5,000 a month at 12% for 10 years grows to about 1,161,695.
What is a step-up SIP?
A step-up (or top-up) SIP increases the monthly instalment by a fixed percentage every year, usually in line with salary increases. With a 10% step-up, a 5,000 SIP becomes 5,500 in year 2, 6,050 in year 3 and so on. Over 10 years at 12% this grows to about 1,687,163 instead of 1,161,695.
Are SIP returns guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund SIP returns depend on the market and change every year. The calculator assumes a constant average return, so treat the result as an estimate. Try a lower and a higher rate to see a range of outcomes.
Should I use annual ÷ 12 or the effective annual rate?
Most online SIP calculators divide the annual rate by 12, which slightly overstates growth compared with an effective annual return. If your expected return is a fund's CAGR, the effective option converts it to an exact monthly rate with (1 + r)^(1/12) − 1, giving a more conservative figure.
What is a realistic return to assume?
It depends on the fund type and period. Equity funds are volatile and their long-run average varies widely; debt funds usually return less but more steadily. Use the past long-term returns of the specific fund category you invest in as a guide, and remember past performance does not guarantee future results.
Does the result include taxes and fees?
No. The calculator shows gross growth at the return you enter. Expense ratios are already reflected in a fund's reported returns, but exit loads and capital gains tax on redemption are not included.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. All calculations happen in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server.
