How it works: browsers cannot read WMA, so this page uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. It downloads once (about 31 MB, then cached) and runs entirely on your device; your files are never uploaded.

How to use the WMA to MP3
Add your WMA files: drop them on the box or click Choose WMA files. You can add many at once.
Pick the MP3 quality: 192 kbps suits most WMA files; choose 256, 320 or VBR V0 for high-bitrate or lossless WMA.
Keep the tags option on so your music player shows titles, artists and albums.
Press Convert to MP3. The first time, the converter downloads once (about 31 MB).
Download each MP3 or Download all (ZIP).
WMA versions and how they convert
Windows Media Audio is a family of codecs stored in Microsoft's ASF container. The converter shows which one each file uses:

For constant bitrate MP3: size in bytes = bitrate (bits per second) × length in seconds ÷ 8. VBR sizes vary with the music; the figures are typical averages.

(1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes here.) MP3 supports sample rates up to 48 kHz and two channels, so 88.2 or 96 kHz WMA Pro files are converted to 44.1 or 48 kHz and 5.1 surround is mixed down to stereo.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert WMA to MP3 for free?
Add your WMA files, choose an MP3 bitrate (192 kbps is the default) and press Convert to MP3. The conversion runs in your browser with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so it is free, needs no account and no file is uploaded.
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose for WMA?
Most WMA files were ripped at 64 to 192 kbps, and re-encoding at a bitrate similar to or a bit above the original keeps the audible quality. 192 kbps is a good default; use 256 or 320 kbps (or VBR V0) for WMA Pro or WMA Lossless sources.
Will converting WMA to MP3 lose quality?
Both formats are lossy (except WMA Lossless), so converting from one to the other adds a small amount of generation loss. At 192 kbps or higher it is usually inaudible. Converting to a lower bitrate than the WMA will reduce quality.
Why can't some WMA files be converted?
WMA files bought from old online stores (for example early Napster or MSN Music) or ripped with copy protection enabled in Windows Media Player use DRM. Protected files cannot be decoded by any third-party converter. The tool detects this and marks those files.
Are the song titles and artists kept?
Yes. Title, artist, album, year, genre and track number from the WMA file are written to ID3v2.3 tags (plus an ID3v1 tag) in the MP3, which Windows, macOS, iPhone, Android and car stereos read.
Why does the converter download about 31 MB?
Browsers cannot decode WMA themselves, so the page loads FFmpeg, an open-source audio and video library, compiled to WebAssembly. It is downloaded once from a public CDN and cached by your browser; your audio files stay on your device.
Can I convert WMV video to MP3?
Yes. WMV and ASF videos use the same container as WMA, so you can add them here and the converter extracts the audio track to MP3.
