How to change audio speed

  1. Choose your file. Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC or other audio file into the box above.
  2. Pick a speed. Drag the slider or tap a preset. Use 0.5× to 0.9× to slow down audio and 1.1× to 3× to speed it up.
  3. Keep or change the pitch. Leave "Preserve pitch" on to change tempo without the chipmunk effect, or turn it off for a classic tape-speed sound.
  4. Preview, then export. Listen with the instant preview, choose MP3 or WAV, and click "Change speed & export".

Speed up or slow down audio without changing pitch

When you simply play audio faster, every sound gets higher, and when you slow it down, it gets deeper. This tool's pitch preservation uses a time-stretching method called WSOLA (waveform similarity overlap-add). It cuts the sound into tiny overlapping slices and lines them up again at the new tempo, so a 1.5× podcast still sounds like the same speaker, and a song slowed to 0.75× for practice stays in the same key.

Popular uses

  • Learn songs: slow down an MP3 to 0.5× to 0.8× to practise guitar, piano or vocals in the original key.
  • Save time: speed up podcasts, lectures, audiobooks and voice notes to 1.25× to 2×.
  • Language learning: slow down native speakers so every word is easy to follow.
  • Video and dance edits: make "sped up" or "slowed" versions of tracks, with or without the pitch change.
  • Transcription: slow down interviews and meeting recordings while you type.

Frequently asked questions

Is this audio speed changer free?

Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no file limits apart from your device's memory.

Are my audio files uploaded to a server?

No. Decoding, time-stretching and MP3 encoding all happen inside your browser, so your audio never leaves your device.

Can I change the speed without changing the pitch?

Yes. Keep "Preserve pitch" switched on. The tempo changes while voices and instruments stay in their original key.

How do I slow down an MP3?

Upload the MP3, set the speed below 1× (for example 0.75×), and export. With pitch preservation on, the song stays in tune while it plays slower.

What speeds are supported?

Any speed from 0.25× to 3×. Pitch preservation sounds most natural between about 0.5× and 2×.

Which formats can I upload and download?

You can upload any audio format your browser can play, including MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, OPUS and FLAC. You can download as MP3 (128 to 320 kbps) or lossless 16-bit WAV.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers. Very long files may take longer to process on phones because everything runs on your device.
