Make any photo square without cutting anything off. The whole picture is fitted into a 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9 frame and the empty space is filled with a solid color, a blurred copy of the photo or a smooth gradient. Works for one image or a whole batch, right in your browser.

How the fit works
The photo is scaled so that its longer side touches the frame (minus any padding you add) and is then centered. A wide photo in a square frame gets bands above and below it; a tall photo gets bands on the left and right. Those bands are what the background fill covers, so the whole original picture stays visible. This is the opposite of a crop, which fills the frame by cutting parts of the photo away.
With Original resolution the canvas grows around your photo, so not a single pixel is scaled. With a size preset the result is scaled to exactly that size, which is what social networks prefer because they would otherwise resize and recompress it themselves.
Which background looks best?
Blur works with almost every photo and looks natural because the colors come from the picture itself. Lower the brightness a little so the sharp photo stands out.
White or black gives a clean gallery look and suits product photos, art and screenshots. Add some padding for a framed, "polaroid" style.
Match photo picks the average color at the edges of the image, so the bands blend into photos with a plain sky, wall or studio backdrop.
Gradient is good for quotes, logos and promotional images. Combine it with rounded corners and the soft shadow for a card effect.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a photo square without cropping it?
Add the photo, keep the Square 1:1 frame and choose a fill. The tool scales the whole photo to fit inside the square and fills the empty bars on the sides (or top and bottom) with your chosen color, a blurred copy of the photo or a gradient. Nothing is cut off.
What size should an Instagram post be?
Instagram displays feed photos 1080 pixels wide. A square post is 1080 × 1080, a portrait post is 1080 × 1350 (4:5), and Stories and Reels covers are 1080 × 1920 (9:16). Choose the matching frame and the 1080 preset to get exactly those sizes.
Does this reduce the quality of my photo?
With the Original export size the photo keeps its full resolution and the canvas grows around it. With a preset such as 1080, the image is scaled down with high-quality smoothing. Choose PNG for no further compression, or JPG/WEBP at high quality for smaller files.
What does the blurred background option do?
It fills the empty space with an enlarged, heavily blurred copy of the same photo, the look you often see on social media and TV. The blur and brightness sliders let you make the background softer or darker so the main photo stands out.
Can I process many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like; the same frame, fill and size settings are applied to all of them. Click a thumbnail to preview it, then download the current image or every image as a ZIP file.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. All drawing happens in a canvas inside your browser and the files are saved directly to your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and EXIF data such as GPS location is not copied into the new image.
