Need a photo under 100KB for online forms, job portals, exam applications, visa and ID uploads? Add your image and it is shrunk automatically to the highest quality and resolution that still fits. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos stay private.

How to use the Compress Image to 100KB
Add your image. Drop JPG, PNG or WebP files into the box, click to choose them, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
Keep 100 KB selected or pick another preset (50KB, 150KB or 200KB) or type a custom size.
Choose the format. JPG works on every website; WebP is smaller but not accepted by some portals.
Check the result. Each image shows its new size in KB and bytes, its dimensions and the quality used. Click Compare to see it next to the original.
Download one image or all of them as a ZIP file.
How the 100KB compression works
The size of a JPEG or WebP file depends on two things: the number of pixels and the compression quality. The tool first draws your image at its original size (or your chosen maximum width) and runs a binary search on quality: it encodes the image, checks the exact byte count, and moves the quality up or down until it finds the highest setting that stays at or under 100 KB. That takes about eight quick encodes.
If even a very low quality is too big, the photo has more pixels than 100 KB can hold, so the tool reduces the width and height in proportion to how far over the limit it is and searches again. When a result would need a quality below about 60%, it also tries slightly smaller dimensions, because a sharper, smaller image usually looks better than a blocky large one at the same file size.
Typical sizes that fit in 100KB
These are rough guides for an ordinary JPEG photo. Very detailed images (grass, gravel, text) need more bytes; plain backgrounds need fewer.
Image type
Approximate dimensions at good quality
Passport or ID photo (plain background)
600 × 800 px and up
Portrait or profile photo
about 800 × 800 px
Landscape or holiday photo
about 1000 × 670 px
Scanned document (black & white mode)
about 1240 × 1754 px (A4 at 150 DPI)
Tips for the best result
Crop away empty space first with the Image Cropper: fewer pixels leave more bytes for the part that matters.
If a portal also asks for exact pixel dimensions, set them with the Image Resizer first, then compress here.
Choose JPG for government, exam and job portals. WebP gives files about 25 to 35% smaller at the same quality but is not accepted everywhere.
For signatures and paper documents, tick Black & white: grayscale images compress better and text stays crisper.
Add the photo to the tool above with the 100 KB target selected. It tries different JPEG quality levels and, only if needed, smaller dimensions until the file is 100 KB or less, then lets you download it.
Will compressing to 100KB make my photo blurry?
Usually not noticeably. A 100 KB JPEG can hold a sharp photo of roughly 1000 to 1400 pixels wide, depending on detail. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits and only reduces the size when necessary.
Is 100KB the same as 102,400 bytes?
Most upload forms and operating systems count 1 KB as 1024 bytes, so 100 KB is 102,400 bytes. Some sites use 1 KB = 1000 bytes. If a form rejects your file, tick Strict mode to stay under 100,000 bytes.
Can I compress a PNG to 100KB?
Yes. PNG files are converted to JPG or WebP, which are much smaller for photos. Transparent areas are filled with white.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The compression uses your browser's own image encoder, so photos never leave your device and the tool also works offline once the page has loaded.
Why is my file smaller than the target?
The result is always at or below 100 KB. If the image is already small, or reaches top quality well under the limit, it stays smaller. If your original already fits and is in the chosen format, it is kept unchanged.
Can I compress several images at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like; they are compressed one after another and can be downloaded together as a ZIP file.
