    Gigabytes to terabytes formula

    TB = GB ÷ 1000
    1. Take the value in gigabytes.
    2. Divide it by 1000 (the number of gigabytes in one terabyte).

    Example: 500 GB ÷ 1000 = 0.5 TB.

    About gigabytes and terabytes

    Gigabytes (GB). A gigabyte (GB) is 1,000,000,000 bytes (decimal). Windows reports sizes in binary gibibytes (GiB, 1,073,741,824 bytes) but labels them GB.

    Terabytes (TB). A terabyte (TB) is 1,000 gigabytes or 10^12 bytes (decimal). Hard drives and SSDs are sold in decimal terabytes.

    How many terabytes are in a gigabyte?

    One gigabyte equals 0.001 terabytes. Looking at it the other way, one terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes.

    How do you convert gigabytes to terabytes?

    Divide the number of gigabytes by 1000. For example, 500 GB ÷ 1000 = 0.5 TB.

    What is 64 gigabytes in terabytes?

    64 GB is 0.064 TB.

    Why does my computer show a smaller size?

    Storage makers use decimal units (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) but Windows uses binary units (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes) while still writing GB. So a 1 TB drive shows as about 931 GB.
