All paper sizes
ISO sizes are defined in millimeters and US sizes in inches; converted values are rounded. Pixel sizes are rounded to the nearest whole pixel.
How to use the Paper Size Reference
- Search or filter the table by name (for example A4 or Letter) or by group.
- Click a size to see it in mm, cm, inches, points and pixels.
- Choose a DPI (300 for print, 96 or 72 for screen) to get pixel dimensions.
- Switch orientation to landscape to swap width and height.
- Tick sizes to compare and see them drawn to scale on top of each other, or press Export CSV.
ISO A paper sizes (ISO 216)
Every A size has the same 1 : √2 aspect ratio, so you can scale between sizes without distortion. A0 has an area of exactly 1 m², and halving a sheet across its long side gives the next size.
| Size | mm | Inches | Pixels at 300 DPI | Pixels at 96 DPI |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A0 | 841 × 1189 | 33.11 × 46.81 | 9933 × 14043 | 3179 × 4494 |
| A1 | 594 × 841 | 23.39 × 33.11 | 7016 × 9933 | 2245 × 3179 |
| A2 | 420 × 594 | 16.54 × 23.39 | 4961 × 7016 | 1587 × 2245 |
| A3 | 297 × 420 | 11.69 × 16.54 | 3508 × 4961 | 1123 × 1587 |
| A4 | 210 × 297 | 8.27 × 11.69 | 2480 × 3508 | 794 × 1123 |
| A5 | 148 × 210 | 5.83 × 8.27 | 1748 × 2480 | 559 × 794 |
| A6 | 105 × 148 | 4.13 × 5.83 | 1240 × 1748 | 397 × 559 |
US paper sizes

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Letter | 8.5 × 11 | 215.9 × 279.4 | 612 × 792 | ANSI A |

| Tabloid | 11 × 17 | 279.4 × 431.8 | 792 × 1224 | ANSI B |
| Ledger | 17 × 11 | 431.8 × 279.4 | 1224 × 792 | ANSI B landscape |
| Executive | 7.25 × 10.5 | 184.2 × 266.7 | 522 × 756 | – |

Converting paper sizes to pixels and points
Pixels = inches × DPI and inches = millimeters ÷ 25.4. For A4 at 300 DPI: 210 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 2480.3, rounded to 2480 px wide, and 297 ÷ 25.4 × 300 = 3507.9, rounded to 3508 px tall.
PDF and PostScript use points, where 1 point = 1/72 inch. A4 is 595.3 × 841.9 pt (often written 595 × 842), and US Letter is exactly 612 × 792 pt.
Envelope tip: ISO C sizes are made to fit A sizes, so C4 holds A4 flat, C5 holds A5 (or A4 folded once), and DL (110 × 220 mm) holds A4 folded into thirds.
Frequently asked questions
What is A4 size in inches?
A4 is 210 × 297 mm, which is 8.27 × 11.69 inches. It is the standard office paper size in most of the world outside North America.
How many pixels is an A4 page?
At 300 DPI, A4 is 2480 × 3508 pixels. At 150 DPI it is 1240 × 1754 pixels, and at 96 DPI (a typical screen) it is 794 × 1123 pixels.
What is the difference between A4 and US Letter?
US Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm). It is 6 mm wider and 18 mm shorter than A4 (210 × 297 mm). Documents usually need small margin changes to print well on the other size.
How do ISO A sizes work?
ISO 216 A sizes all have an aspect ratio of 1 : √2. A0 has an area of one square meter, and each next size is made by cutting the previous one in half across its long side, so two A4 sheets make one A3.
What are B and C sizes used for?
B sizes sit between the A sizes and are used for posters, books and passports. C sizes are for envelopes: a C4 envelope holds an unfolded A4 sheet, C5 holds A4 folded once and C6 holds A4 folded twice.
What DPI should I use?
Use 300 DPI for good-quality prints, 150 DPI for drafts or large posters viewed from a distance, and 72 or 96 DPI when you only need the size on screen.
