Photo Print Layout
Fit as many prints as possible on one sheet: wallet photos, 2×2 inch pictures, 3.5×5 or 4×6 prints on 4×6, 5×7, 8×10, A4 or US Letter paper. Add one or many photos, let the tool auto-fill the sheet, and download a print-ready PDF or 300 DPI JPG with crop marks.

How to use the Photo Print Layout
- Add photos: drop one or more pictures on the box or press Choose photos. Rotate any photo with its button.
- Pick the print size (wallet, 2×2, 3.5×5, 4×6…) and the sheet you will print on (4×6, 5×7, 8×10, A4, Letter).
- Choose how to fill: repeat the photos to fill every slot, or print each photo a set number of times.
- Fine-tune the gap, margin, crop or fit, and crop marks. The preview shows how many prints fit.
- Download the PDF and print at 100% (actual size), or download JPG sheets to order prints from a photo lab.
How many prints fit on a sheet?
With no margin and no gap, the tool tries the print upright and sideways and keeps the orientation that fits more. Counts per sheet:
| Print size | 4 × 6 in | 5 × 7 in | 8 × 10 in | US Letter* | A4* |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wallet 2.5 × 3.5 in | 2 | 4 | 8 | 9 | 9 |
| 2 × 2 in | 6 | 6 | 20 | 20 | 15 |
| 35 × 45 mm | 8 | 10 | 28 | 28 | 32 |
| 2 × 3 in | 4 | 4 | 12 | 12 | 10 |
| 3.5 × 5 in | 1 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 4 |
| 4 × 6 in | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| 5 × 7 in | 0 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
*US Letter and A4 with a 6 mm margin for home printers. A gap between prints lowers the count; crop marks don't.
Formula
Prints across = ⌊(sheet width − 2 × margin + gap) ÷ (print width + gap)⌋, and the same for prints down. The tool calculates this for both print orientations and uses the larger total, then centers the block on the sheet.
Tips for perfect prints
- Home printer: keep a margin of at least 5 mm, select the matching paper size and print at Actual size / 100%.
- Photo lab: use a 4×6, 5×7 or 8×10 sheet with no margin, download the JPG and order it as a normal print. Turn off any "auto crop" or "fill" option at the lab.
- Cutting: line a ruler up with the crop marks in the border and cut with a craft knife or paper trimmer. Thin cut lines help when prints touch each other.
- Passport photos need a precise head size and background; make them with the Passport Photo Maker first, then lay them out here.
Frequently asked questions
How many wallet photos fit on a 4x6 print?
Two wallet photos (2.5 × 3.5 in) fit on a 4 × 6 in sheet with no margin, placed sideways one above the other. A 5 × 7 sheet holds four, and US Letter paper with a 6 mm margin holds nine (3 × 3). The tool tries both orientations and always picks the one that fits the most prints.
How many 2x2 photos fit on a 4x6?
Six 2 × 2 inch photos fit on a 4 × 6 inch sheet (2 across, 3 down) when the margin and gap are zero, which is why passport-style 2×2 photos are often printed on 4×6 paper at a photo lab.
Why should I print at 100% or actual size?
The PDF is made at the exact paper size with each print at its real dimensions. If your printer dialog uses Fit to page or Shrink, the photos come out slightly smaller than intended. Choose Actual size or 100% scaling.
What is the difference between crop to fill and fit?
Crop to fill covers the whole print slot and trims the parts of the photo that stick out, so there are no white edges. Fit shows the entire photo inside the slot and leaves white bands where the shapes differ.
Can I order these sheets from a photo lab?
Yes. Choose a 4×6, 5×7 or 8×10 sheet, download the JPG (300 DPI) and upload it to any photo printing service as a normal print of that size. Then cut the prints apart along the crop marks.
What resolution do my photos need?
For sharp prints aim for about 300 pixels per inch of print size, for example 600 × 600 pixels for a 2 × 2 inch photo or 750 × 1050 pixels for a wallet print. The sheet is rendered at 300 DPI.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Layout, PDF and JPG creation all happen in your browser with the Canvas API. Your photos stay on your device.
