App Privacy Policy Generator
Answer questions about your mobile app: the data it collects, the device permissions it asks for and the SDKs inside it (analytics, ads, crash reporting, push, payments). You get a complete privacy policy with links to every third party's own policy, plus a checklist for the App Store privacy labels and the Google Play Data safety form.

How to use the App Privacy Policy Generator
- Enter your app details: name, developer, contact email, platforms, audience and whether users have accounts.
- Tick the data your app collects itself, such as email, photos or location.
- Tick each permission the app requests and write a short, specific reason.
- Select the SDKs built into your app. Data they collect is added to the policy automatically.
- Fix any warnings, read the preview, then download the policy and publish it at a public URL for your store listings.
What the app stores require (2026)
| Requirement | Apple App Store | Google Play |
|---|---|---|
| Privacy policy URL | Required for all apps (App Store Connect, App Privacy) | Required for all apps (Play Console, App content) |
| Data disclosure form | App Privacy "nutrition label": data types, linked to user, used for tracking | Data safety section: data collected, shared, security practices |
| Account deletion | Must be possible from inside the app if accounts can be created | In-app path plus a web link for deletion requests |
| Tracking consent | App Tracking Transparency prompt before using the IDFA or tracking across apps | Users can delete or reset the Advertising ID; respect it |
| Permission reasons | Purpose strings (e.g. NSCameraUsageDescription) shown in the prompt | Declarations for sensitive permissions such as background location |
| Children | Kids Category rules: no third-party ads or analytics without strict limits | Families Policy: certified ad SDKs, no advertising ID from children |
Store rules change; check the current App Store Review Guidelines and Google Play Developer Policy Center before each release.
Data commonly collected by popular SDKs
| SDK type | Examples | Data to disclose |
|---|---|---|

| Crash reporting | Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry | Crash logs, diagnostics, device state, installation ID |
| Advertising | Google AdMob, Meta Audience Network, AppLovin, Unity Ads | Advertising ID, device info, ad interactions, approximate location |
| Attribution | AppsFlyer, Adjust | Advertising ID, install and in-app events (usually counts as tracking) |
| Push | Firebase Cloud Messaging, OneSignal | Device push token, notification interactions |
| Payments | RevenueCat, Stripe | Purchase history, app user ID; card data stays with the processor |
Tips for an accurate app privacy policy
- Audit your dependencies. Check your Podfile, Package.swift, build.gradle or pubspec.yaml for SDKs you forgot, including those pulled in by plugins.
- Match the store forms. Your policy, App Privacy label and Data safety answers should describe the same data. Reviewers compare them.
- Be specific about permissions. "To scan receipts for your expense reports" passes review far more often than "to improve your experience".
- Update it with the app. Adding an SDK or a new permission means updating the policy and the effective date before you ship.
- For a website that goes with your app, use the Privacy Policy Generator, and add a Terms and Conditions page.
Frequently asked questions
Does my app need a privacy policy?
Yes, in practice. Apple requires a privacy policy link for every app in App Store Connect, and Google Play requires one for every app in Play Console and inside apps that handle personal or sensitive data. Laws such as CalOPPA in California also require a policy for any app that collects personal information from California residents.
Where do I publish my app's privacy policy?
At a public, stable URL that does not require login and is not a PDF download, for example a page on your website, a GitHub Pages site or a hosted document. Add that link to App Store Connect, the Play Console store listing and the app's settings or about screen.
Why do I need to list third-party SDKs?
SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or AdMob collect device identifiers, usage and crash data from your users. Store rules and privacy laws treat that as your app's data collection, so the policy must say what they collect and link to their own policies. Your Play Data safety form and App Store privacy label must include it too.
What does Apple's account deletion rule require?
Since June 2022, apps that let users create an account must also let them start deleting that account from inside the app (App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v)). Google Play also requires a web link where users can request deletion of their account and data without reinstalling the app.
What should the policy say about permissions?
Name each permission and why the app needs it, in specific terms, such as "camera: to scan receipts". This mirrors the purpose strings you must put in the iOS Info.plist and the reasons Google reviews for sensitive permissions such as background location.
Can a kids' app show ads?
Only with strict limits. Apps directed at children under 13 must follow COPPA and the store family policies: no personalized ads or tracking, only ad networks certified for family apps, and ads configured as child-directed. The generator warns you about conflicting choices.
Is this generated policy legal advice?
No. It is a well-structured starting point based on common requirements of US law and the two app stores. Make sure every statement matches what your app actually does, and have a lawyer review it if your app handles sensitive data such as health, finance or children's information.
