What to remove
Separate names with commas. A trailing * matches any name that starts with it.
How to use the URL Tracking Remover
- Paste your links into the left box, one per line or inside any text such as an email or a chat message.
- Choose the output: a clean list of links, or your original text with every link cleaned in place.
- Adjust what to remove if needed. Referral tags and #fragments are kept unless you tick them, because some sites need them.
- Add your own parameters to remove or always keep, for example aff* to drop every affiliate parameter.
- Copy or download the clean result, and check the per-link report to see what was taken out.
Common tracking parameters and who adds them
| Parameter | Added by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, utm_id | Marketers (Google Analytics convention) | Campaign attribution |
gclid, gbraid, wbraid, gad_source, dclid | Google Ads and Campaign Manager | Ad click identifier |
fbclid | Facebook and Instagram outbound links | Click identifier for Meta ads and pixel |
msclkid | Microsoft Advertising (Bing ads) | Ad click identifier |
ttclid, twclid, li_fat_id, epik, ScCid, rdt_cid | TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit ads | Ad click identifiers |
mc_eid, mc_cid | Mailchimp | Which subscriber and which email campaign |
_hsenc, _hsmi, __hstc, __hssc, __hsfp | HubSpot | Email and visitor tracking |
mkt_tok | Marketo | Email recipient token |

si, feature, pp (YouTube), si (Spotify) | Share buttons | Identifies the person who shared |
igsh, igshid | Instagram share sheet | Share identifier |
s, t (X / Twitter) | Share button | Share source and token |
These parameters do not change what the page shows. Parameters such as id, v, q, page or color do, so they are always kept.
How the cleaner decides what to keep
- Exact names, not guesses. Only parameters on the lists above (and the full list built into the tool) are removed. A parameter called
sourceorrefis kept unless you tick "Referral tags too", because shops, forums and search pages often use those names for real content. - Site-aware short names. Very short names like
s,torsiare only removed on the sites where they are known share tags.t=90on a YouTube link, which sets the start time, is never touched. - Nothing else is rewritten. The rest of the address, its percent-encoding and the order of the remaining parameters stay exactly as you pasted them.
- Anchors stay. A
#sectionanchor or a#:~:text=highlight is kept unless you choose to remove fragments. Tracking written after the # in query form (for example#xtor=RSS-1) is cleaned.
Tips for sharing cleaner links
- Clean links before posting them in group chats or forums: tracking IDs can reveal which email list, ad or account a link came from.
- Copy links from the browser address bar after the page has loaded; many sites remove their own tracking from the address after loading.
- When you run campaigns yourself, build tagged links with the UTM Builder and use this tool to check a link has only the tags you meant to add.
Frequently asked questions
What are tracking parameters in a URL?
They are extra name=value pairs after the ? in a link that tell analytics and ad platforms where a click came from. Examples are utm_source and utm_campaign for campaigns, fbclid for Facebook clicks, gclid for Google Ads and mc_eid for Mailchimp emails. The page loads the same without them.
Is it safe to remove utm, fbclid and gclid?
Yes for the visitor: the page content does not depend on them. Removing them only means the site owner's analytics will not attribute your visit to that campaign or ad. If you are the site owner, keep them on links in your own campaigns.
Will cleaning a link break it?
Rarely. This tool only removes parameters that are known to be tracking-only and keeps everything else exactly as it was, such as ?id=, ?v= on YouTube or search terms. Generic names like ref, source or tag are kept by default because some sites use them for real content. Open a cleaned link once to confirm it works.
What does the si parameter in YouTube and Spotify links do?
si is a share identifier added when you tap Share. It links the shared copy back to your account so the platform can see who shared with whom. Removing si does not change the video or song that opens.
Can it clean Google and Facebook redirect links?
Yes. Links copied from Google results (google.com/url?q=), Facebook (l.facebook.com/l.php?u=), Outlook Safe Links and several other redirectors are unwrapped to the real destination, which is then cleaned as well. Shortened links such as t.co or bit.ly cannot be expanded without visiting them, so they are left as they are.
How many links can I clean at once?
Thousands. Everything runs locally in your browser, so the limit is only your device's memory. The per-link report shows the first 500 links, and the clean result and CSV include all of them.
Are my links uploaded anywhere?
No. The cleaning happens with JavaScript on this page. Nothing you paste is sent to a server, and your last input is only stored in your own browser so it is still there when you come back.
