How to use the Keyword Suggestion Tool
- Enter a seed keyword of one to four words that describes your topic, such as coffee grinder.
- Choose the source, language and country: Google Search for website content, YouTube for video titles and tags.
- Pick the expansions: A–Z and questions give the most ideas; add buyer intent for product pages.
- Click Find keywords and watch the list grow as each autocomplete query returns.
- Filter and export: use the group tabs and the filter box, then copy the keywords or download a CSV.
How the keyword expansion works
Autocomplete only shows up to about ten predictions for whatever is typed, so a single query reveals very little. This tool sends many slightly different queries and merges the answers:
| Expansion | Queries sent | Example for "coffee grinder" | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seed | 1 | coffee grinder | The most popular completions |
| A–Z after | 26 | coffee grinder b → coffee grinder burr vs blade | Long-tail variety (alphabet soup) |
| Questions | 13 | how coffee grinder → how to clean coffee grinder | FAQ sections, blog posts, voice search |
| Prepositions | 10 | coffee grinder for → coffee grinder for espresso | Use cases, comparisons (vs), local intent (near) |
| A–Z before | 26 | m coffee grinder → manual coffee grinder | Modifiers and brand names placed before the seed |
| Numbers | 10 | coffee grinder 2 → coffee grinder 2025 | Years, sizes and model numbers |
| Buyer intent | 10 | best coffee grinder, coffee grinder review | Product and affiliate pages |
Queries run three at a time from your browser, and identical phrases are merged. The ×n badge shows how many different queries returned the same phrase.
Turning the list into content
- Group by intent. Informational phrases (how, what, why) suit guides and FAQs; commercial phrases (best, review, vs) suit comparison pages; transactional phrases (buy, price, near me) suit product and location pages.
- One page per intent, not per phrase. "how to clean a coffee grinder" and "cleaning burr grinder" usually belong on the same page. Use close variants as headings or naturally in the text.
- Use questions as H2s and FAQ entries. Answer each one directly in the first sentence below the heading.
- Check the results page. Search the phrase yourself to see what kind of content ranks (videos, shops, guides) before deciding the format.
- Validate volume elsewhere. Autocomplete proves a phrase is searched, not how often. Combine this list with a volume tool before prioritizing.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the keyword suggestions come from?
From the public autocomplete service that powers the suggestions under the Google and YouTube search boxes. Autocomplete reflects real searches people make, so every keyword in the list is a phrase that is actually being searched, although Google filters some predictions and does not publish exact volumes.
Does this tool show search volume?
No. Autocomplete does not provide search volume or difficulty. The Frequency column counts how many of the tool's queries returned the same phrase, which is a rough hint of a popular phrase, not a volume figure. Check volumes in a keyword planner before prioritizing.
Why do I get no results or an error?
The suggestions are loaded directly by your browser from suggestqueries.google.com. Ad or privacy blockers, a company firewall or being offline can block that, and Google may briefly rate-limit many rapid requests. Allow the domain for this page, wait a minute, or use fewer expansions.
What is the alphabet soup method?
It is a classic keyword research technique: type the seed followed by each letter (coffee grinder a, coffee grinder b…) and record what autocomplete proposes. It surfaces long-tail phrases you would not think of. This tool automates it for A–Z and other modifiers.
Why are question keywords useful?
Questions such as how to clean a coffee grinder match how people search and speak to voice assistants. They make good FAQ entries, blog headings and video titles, and they often have less competition than short head terms.
Do suggestions differ by country and language?
Yes. Autocomplete is localized, so the same seed returns different phrases for the United States and the United Kingdom, or in English and Spanish. Choose the market you are writing for.
Is my keyword research private?
FreeToolCabin does not receive or store your keywords; requests go from your browser straight to Google's autocomplete service, as if you typed them into a search box.
Are all the tools on FreeToolCabin tested for quality and accuracy?
Yes! Every tool on our site undergoes automated Q/A testing in real browser environments to ensure high precision, correct output, and zero errors. If you happen to spot a bug or have a suggestion, please contact us at [email protected] and our team will review it right away.
