Build a soundboard with your own sounds in a minute. Drop in audio clips or record from your microphone, give every pad a label, a color and a keyboard shortcut, and play them with a click or a key press. Your board is saved in this browser and can be exported to use on another device.

How to use the Soundboard Maker
Try the starter board: click a pad or press its key (1–4, Q–R, A–S) to hear it.
Press Add sounds and pick one or more audio files. They fill the empty pads, or drop a file straight onto a pad.
Click the pencil on a pad to change its label, color, hotkey, volume or loop setting, or to record a new clip from your microphone.
Play your board with clicks, taps or hotkeys. Press Esc or Stop all to silence everything.
Export board to back it up or move it to another computer, then use Import board there.
Ideas for custom soundboards
Use
Sounds to add
Handy settings
Streaming and gaming
Applause, fail horn, catchphrases, intro sting, "be right back" music
Loop on for background music; hotkeys on F1–F12 so they don't clash with game controls
Classroom or quiz night
Correct and wrong buzzers, countdown, drumroll, winner fanfare
Color code right (green) and wrong (red); "Stops it" mode to cut a countdown short
Tabletop role-playing games
Rain, tavern ambience, sword clash, monster roar, door creak
Loop ambience pads and lower their volume; overlap mode for repeated hits
Podcasts and radio-style shows
Intro jingle, transition whoosh, segment stingers, outro
Pad volume to match levels; restart mode for clean, repeatable cues
Language and speech practice
Your own recordings of words, phrases or pronunciations
Record from mic; label each pad with the word or phrase
Making clips that sound good on a soundboard
Trim the silence. A clip that starts instantly feels responsive. Cut leading silence with the Audio Cutter before adding it.
Match the loudness. Clips from different sources vary a lot in level. Use each pad's volume slider (up to 150%), or even them out first with the Audio Normalizer.
Keep files small. Short MP3 or OGG clips load and export faster than long WAV files. A one-second WAV at CD quality is about 170 KB in stereo, while the same clip as a 128 kbps MP3 is about 16 KB.
Use headphones when recording. If you record from the mic while other pads are playing through speakers, the microphone will pick them up.
Need retro game effects for your board? Create them with the 8-Bit Sound Effect Generator and add the WAV files here.

Frequently asked questions
Where are my sounds stored?
Only in your own browser, using IndexedDB storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser's site data or using a private window removes the board, so use Export board to keep a backup file.
Can I use the soundboard while streaming or in a voice chat?
Yes, but the hotkeys only work while this browser tab is focused. To send the sounds into a call or stream, capture the browser audio in your streaming software, or route it with a virtual audio cable app. Keep the board open in a separate window for quick access.
Which audio formats can I add?
Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, OGG and WebM work everywhere, and M4A/AAC and FLAC work in most modern browsers. The audio track of many MP4 videos also works. Each clip can be up to 25 MB.
How do I set a hotkey for a pad?
Click the pencil on the pad, click the Hotkey box and press the key you want. Letters, numbers, symbols and F1–F12 can be used. If another pad already uses that key it is moved to the new pad. Press Backspace in the box or Clear to remove a hotkey.
Can I play several sounds at the same time?
Yes. Different pads always play together. For the same pad, choose what happens when you press it while it is playing: restart from the beginning, stop it, or play another copy on top.
How do I move my soundboard to another computer?
Press Export board to download a .json file that contains all pads and their audio. Open the Soundboard Maker on the other device and choose Import board with that file. Large boards make large files, because the audio is included.
Is it OK to use any sound I find online?
Only use clips you made yourself, sounds you have permission to use, or royalty-free effects, especially if you stream or publish recordings. The starter sounds on this page are synthesized in your browser and are free to use.
