LinkedIn Post Formatter
Write your post, select any words and make them bold, italic, monospace, script or underlined with Unicode characters that LinkedIn keeps. A live preview shows where the โsee moreโ fold falls, and the counter tracks the 3,000-character limit.

How to use the LinkedIn Post Formatter
- Write or paste your post into the editor, or press Sample to see an example.
- Select the words to style and click Bold, Italic, Mono, Script or another style. With nothing selected the whole post is styled.

- Press Copy formatted post and paste it straight into LinkedIn.
LinkedIn text styles at a glance
Each style replaces the letters AโZ, aโz (and digits where Unicode has them) with characters from a different block. Underline and strikethrough add a combining mark after every character instead.
| Style | Example | Digits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bold (sans-serif) | ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ | ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฏ | Headlines, the first line of a post |
| Italic | ๐๐ฆ๐ด๐ด๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ข๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฅ | plain | Quotes, emphasis inside a sentence |
| Bold italic | ๐๐๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ ๐ก๐๐๐ง๐ฃ๐๐ | ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ฏ | Strong call-outs |
| Serif bold | ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ | ๐๐๐ | A classic, bookish look |
| Monospace | ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ | ๐ท๐ธ๐น | Code, commands, numbers in a table |
| Script | โโฏ๐๐โด๐๐ ๐โฏ๐ถ๐๐โฏ๐น | plain | Signatures, a personal touch |
| Underline | Lฬฒeฬฒsฬฒsฬฒoฬฒnฬฒsฬฒ | any | Links you mention as text, key terms |
How LinkedIn counts characters
The limit for a post is 3,000 characters. Plain letters count as one each, but styled letters such as ๐ live outside the Basic Multilingual Plane and are stored as two UTF-16 code units, and many emoji are two or more. That is why a fully bold post reaches the limit at about 1,500 letters.
Example: the line ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ผ world has 11 visible characters but a length of 16 (5 bold letters ร 2 + 6 plain characters). The editor shows both numbers, and the progress bar uses the stricter one so your post never gets cut off.
| Where on LinkedIn | Character limit |
|---|---|
| Post | 3,000 |
| Comment | 1,250 |
| Headline | 220 |
| About section | 2,600 |
| Before โsee moreโ in the feed | about 210 or 3 lines |
Tips for a post people actually read
- Hook first: the preview shows exactly what sits above the fold. One short, specific line beats a long intro.
- White space: short paragraphs with an empty line between them are easier to read on a phone. Use Clean spacing to remove accidental triple line breaks.
- Style little: bold one headline and maybe one key phrase. Whole paragraphs in a fancy style are hard to read and invisible to search.
- Lists: numbered steps or a few bullets make advice skimmable. Select the lines and click Bullets or Numbered; click again to remove the markers.
- Hashtags: three to five relevant hashtags at the end are plenty. Keep them in plain text so they stay clickable.
Frequently asked questions
How do I write bold text on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn posts do not have a bold button, so this tool swaps normal letters for look-alike characters from the Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, such as ๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ. They are ordinary text characters, so they survive copy and paste into posts, comments, your headline and the About section.
Will styled text hurt my post's reach or accessibility?
Use it sparingly. Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them, and LinkedIn search does not match ๐ฏ๐ผ๐น๐ฑ words to normal ones. Style a headline or a few key phrases, and keep hashtags and important keywords in plain text.
What is the LinkedIn post character limit?
A LinkedIn post can have up to 3,000 characters. Styled letters and many emoji are stored as two UTF-16 code units, so this counter uses that stricter count, and the Visible characters card shows what a reader would count.
Where does the โsee moreโ cut-off happen?
LinkedIn shows roughly the first 210 characters or the first three lines of a post, whichever comes first, then adds โโฆsee moreโ. The exact point varies a little by device, so put your hook in the first line or two.
How do I remove the formatting again?
Select the text and click the same style again to switch it off, or click Normal to turn every styled letter back into plain text and remove underlines and strikethroughs.
Why do some letters look different in the script style?
A few script letters such as โฌ, โฐ, โ and โฏ were added to Unicode earlier than the rest, so they come from a different block and can look slightly different depending on the font. They still copy and paste normally.
Is my post stored or uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your draft is only saved in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back.
