Small Text Generator
Type your text and get it as superscript (ᵗⁱⁿʸ), subscript (ₜᵢₙy) and small caps (ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ) Unicode letters, ready to copy and paste. It runs entirely in your browser.
Highlighted characters have no tiny Unicode version in that style and are kept as normal characters. Superscript and subscript letters may look slightly different on each device, because each font draws them.
How to use the Small Text Generator
- Type or paste your text into the box. The four small styles update as you type.
- Check the highlights: orange letters have no tiny version in that style and stay normal size.
- Pick a style. Use Tiny text (mixed) if you need every letter to be small.
- Press Copy next to the style you like.
- Paste it into your Instagram bio, Discord name, TikTok caption or message.
Which letters have a small form?
Unicode only contains small letters that were needed for phonetics, mathematics or historic typography, so each style has gaps. This table shows exactly what is available.
| Style | Example | Available | Missing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superscript lowercase | ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍ | 25 letters | q |
| Superscript capitals | ᴬᴮᴰᴱᴳᴴ | 19 letters | C, F, Q, S, X, Y, Z (the lowercase superscript is used instead, except Q) |
| Subscript | ₐₑₕᵢⱼₖ | a e h i j k l m n o p r s t u v x | b c d f g q w y z |
| Small caps | ᴀʙᴄᴅᴇꜰ | 25 letters (q uses ǫ) | x (normal x is already small) |
| Digits and signs | ⁰¹²³ ₀₁₂₃ ⁺⁻⁼⁽⁾ | 0–9 + − = ( ) in superscript and subscript | No small caps digits |
Popular uses for tiny text
- Bios and names: a small tagline under your main name, like “ᵖʰᵒᵗᵒᵍʳᵃᵖʰᵉʳ” or “ꜱɪɴᴄᴇ 2019”.
- Chemistry and math: H₂O, CO₂, x², m³, 10⁻⁶ in places that do not support formatting.
- Footnotes and trademarks in plain text: “Product¹”, “Brandᵀᴹ”.
- Subtle captions: a whisper-style aside at the end of a post, like “ⁱᵗ ʷᵃˢ ʷᵒʳᵗʰ ⁱᵗ”.
For bold, italic, script and bubble letters use the Fancy Text Generator, and to flip text use Upside Down Text. Building a profile? The Instagram Bio Generator combines fonts and emoji.
Good to know before you paste
Small characters are separate code points, so they count toward character limits like any other letter, and search inside apps will not find “tiny” when you wrote “ᵗⁱⁿʸ”. Superscript letters come from different Unicode blocks and some fonts draw them at slightly different heights (ⁱ and ⁿ often sit a bit differently). Preview your text on your phone before using it in an important profile.
Frequently asked questions
How does small text work?
It is not a font. Unicode contains separate small characters, for example modifier letters such as ᵃ and ᵇ (used in phonetics), subscript digits such as ₂, and small capital letters such as ᴀ. The generator swaps each normal letter for its small twin, so the result stays small wherever you paste it, even where you cannot change the font.
Why are some letters not small?
Unicode does not have a small version of every letter. There is no superscript q, no subscript b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y or z, and no small capital x. Those letters are kept as normal characters and highlighted. The Tiny text (mixed) style fills the gaps with small caps so every letter looks small.
Where can I use tiny text?
Most places that accept Unicode text: Instagram and TikTok bios and captions, X posts, Discord messages and nicknames, YouTube comments, Facebook posts and many games. Some sites restrict usernames to plain letters and numbers, and a few fonts show some small letters at slightly different sizes or heights.
Is small text bad for accessibility or SEO?
Screen readers may read superscript and small caps letters one by one or skip them, and search engines do not treat them as normal words. Use small text for decoration and keep important information, like your name or links, in normal text.
How do I write H₂O or x² with this?
Type H2O and copy the Subscript line, or x2 and copy the Superscript line. Digits, plus, minus, equals and parentheses all have superscript and subscript forms, so formulas like (n+1)² and CO₂ work well.
What is the difference between small caps and superscript?
Small caps are capital-shaped letters at the height of lowercase letters (ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ). Superscript letters are raised and smaller (ˢᵐᵃˡˡ), so they look like tiny text floating at the top of the line, and subscript letters sit below the line.
