How to use the Online Sticky Notes
- Create a note: pick a color and press Create note, or double-click an empty spot on the board.
- Write: click inside the note and type. Changes save automatically.
- Move and resize: drag the note’s top bar to move it and the bottom-right corner to resize it. On a keyboard, focus the top bar and use the arrow keys (Shift + arrows to resize).
- Organize: recolor with the dots on each note, search to highlight notes, or press Arrange notes in a grid.
- Back up: press Download backup (.json) and use Import backup to restore the board on any device.
Ways to use a sticky note board
Sticky notes work because they are small and easy to move. One idea per note keeps thoughts separate, and dragging notes around lets you group, rank and rethink them without rewriting anything. A few ways people use this board:
- Daily planning: one note per task, colored by priority, moved to the right as you finish them.
- Brainstorming: dump every idea on its own note first, then drag similar ones together and recolor the groups.
- Study and revision: a question on one side of the board and short answers or formulas on notes next to it.
- Writing and planning projects: one note per scene, chapter, slide or feature, rearranged until the order feels right.
- Quick reminders: keep the tab pinned in your browser as an always-there scratch board.

Keeping your notes safe
Your board lives in this browser’s local storage, which is private and works offline once the page has loaded, but it is not a cloud backup. Browsers can clear site data when you use cleanup tools, private windows or “clear browsing data”. Download a backup now and then, especially before clearing your browser or switching computers. The backup is a plain JSON file containing each note’s text, color, size and position, so you can also open it in any text editor.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my sticky notes saved?
Only in your current browser, using its local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, so your notes stay private, but they are tied to this browser and device. Clearing site data, using a private window or switching browsers will not show them, so download a backup for anything important.
How do I move my notes to another computer or browser?
Press Download backup (.json) to save a file with all your notes, positions and colors. On the other device, open this page and press Import backup, then choose the file. You can replace the board or add the imported notes to the notes already there.
Can I use the sticky notes with a keyboard or on a phone?
Yes. On touch screens, drag a note by its top bar and resize it from the corner. With a keyboard, Tab to a note’s top bar and use the arrow keys to move it in 10-pixel steps (hold Alt for 1-pixel steps, Shift to resize), press Enter to start typing and Delete to remove it.
Is there a limit to how many notes I can make?
You can keep up to 200 notes of up to 5,000 characters each, which fits comfortably in browser storage. If storage ever fills up, the page warns you so you can download a backup.
What happens if I delete a note by mistake?
Press Restore deleted note right away to bring back the most recently deleted note with its text, color and position. Clearing the whole board asks for confirmation first, but cannot be undone, so download a backup before clearing.
Do my notes sync between tabs?
If you open the board in two tabs of the same browser, changes saved in one tab are loaded in the other automatically. Different browsers and devices do not sync; use the backup file to move notes between them.
