Pull the sound out of WebM videos and WebM audio files and save it as MP3, the format every phone, editor and player understands. Add several files, choose the quality and convert them all on your own device.
MP3 quality
WebM videos work too: the soundtrack is extracted and the picture is ignored, so a screen recording or video clip becomes a small MP3. If your browser cannot decode a file directly, the tool plays it in the background and records the sound in real time instead.

How to use the WebM to MP3
Add your WebM files: drop videos or audio files on the box, or click Choose WEBM files.
Pick the MP3 quality: 192 kbps for music and video soundtracks, 128 kbps mono for talks and voice.
Optionally change channels or normalize the volume, useful for quiet screen recordings.
Press Convert to MP3. The soundtrack is extracted and encoded file by file.
Download each MP3, or press Download all (ZIP).
What is inside a WebM file
WebM is a restricted form of the Matroska container. Every WebM file holds at most these codecs, and the tool lists the ones it finds next to each file name:
Track
Codecs allowed in WebM
Notes
Audio
Opus, Vorbis
Opus is used by browsers' recorders and most modern WebM files; it always decodes at 48 kHz.
Video
VP8, VP9, AV1
Ignored when converting to MP3, so the video codec does not matter.
MKV and MKA files use the same structure but may contain other codecs such as AAC, MP3 or FLAC; they convert when your browser can decode the audio.
Choosing the MP3 settings
Screen recordings, meetings and lectures: 128 kbps, mono. Speech stays clear and the file is about 0.96 MB per minute.
Music and video soundtracks: 192 kbps stereo (1.44 MB per minute), or 256 kbps for high-quality sources.
Quiet recordings: tick Normalize volume to raise the loudest peak to −1 dB without clipping.
The size of an MP3 is bitrate ÷ 8 × seconds. A 30-minute screen recording at 128 kbps becomes about 28.8 MB of MP3, no matter how large the WebM video was.
Need a video instead?
If you want to keep the picture and only need a more compatible format, convert the WebM to MP4 with the WebM to MP4 converter instead. To extract audio from MP4, MOV and other videos, use Video to MP3.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert WebM to MP3?
Add your WebM files to this page, choose an MP3 bitrate and press Convert to MP3. The audio track is decoded in your browser and encoded as MP3, then you can download each file or a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I extract audio from a WebM video?
Yes. WebM videos usually contain an Opus or Vorbis soundtrack. The tool decodes only the audio, ignores the picture and saves the sound as an MP3, so a long video becomes a much smaller file.
What is a WebM file?
WebM is an open media format based on Matroska. It holds VP8, VP9 or AV1 video with Opus or Vorbis audio. Browsers create WebM when you record your screen, webcam or microphone, and many websites stream WebM.
Which MP3 bitrate should I use?
WebM soundtracks are usually Opus at 64 to 160 kbps. 192 kbps MP3 keeps music close to the original; 128 kbps, or 96 to 128 kbps in mono, is enough for speech and screen recordings.
Why does it say my WebM has no audio?
Some recordings are saved without sound, for example a screen capture made without a microphone or tab audio. If the file has no audio track there is nothing to convert to MP3.
Why is conversion slow for some files?
Most files are decoded faster than real time. If your browser cannot decode a file directly but can play it, the tool records the sound while it plays silently in the background, which takes as long as the recording.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Decoding and MP3 encoding happen in your browser, so private recordings and videos stay on your device.
