Fill the transparent parts of a PNG with a solid color, a gradient or a photo of your choice. Trim the empty edges, add padding and a soft drop shadow that follows the shape, then save a JPG or PNG. Ideal for logos, product cut-outs, stickers and photos after background removal.

How to use the Add Background to Transparent PNG
Add your transparent PNGs (or WEBP/GIF with transparency). A sample cut-out is shown until you add your own.
Choose the background: Color, Gradient or Photo. For a photo background, pick the image you want behind the object.
Adjust the layout: trim empty edges, set the padding and choose the canvas shape.
Add a shadow if you like, and tune its strength, softness and offset.
Download the result as JPG, PNG or WEBP, or all images as a ZIP.
How transparent pixels get their new background
Every pixel of a PNG has a red, green and blue value plus an alpha value from 0 (fully transparent) to 255 (fully opaque). When the image is placed on a background, each pixel is blended with the color behind it using standard alpha compositing:
result = image color × alpha + background color × (1 − alpha), with alpha written as 0 to 1.
That is why soft, anti-aliased edges, hair and glass stay smooth: a pixel at 50% alpha becomes an even mix of the object and the new background instead of a hard, jagged edge. The output has no transparency left, so it looks the same in every app, email or upload form.

JPG or PNG?
JPG gives small files for photos and product shots, and since the background is now solid, nothing is lost by dropping transparency.
PNG is best for logos, text and flat graphics with sharp edges, where JPG compression could leave faint blotches.
WEBP is smaller than both and works on modern websites, but some older programs cannot open it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a white background to a transparent PNG?
Add the PNG, keep Color selected with white, and click Download. Every transparent or semi-transparent pixel is blended onto white, so the edges stay smooth. Saving as JPG is common for white backgrounds because JPG cannot store transparency anyway.
Why does my PNG show a black background in some apps?
Some viewers and upload forms ignore the alpha channel and show transparent pixels as black. Adding a real background color and saving as JPG, or as PNG without transparency, makes the image look the same everywhere.
Can I use another photo as the background?
Yes. Choose Photo and pick a background image. It is scaled to cover the whole canvas, centered, and your transparent PNG is placed on top with the padding and shadow you set.
What does Trim empty edges do?
Many cut-outs have a lot of fully transparent space around the object. Trimming finds the smallest box that contains every visible pixel, so the padding you choose is measured from the object itself and the object is centered properly.
My image has no transparent areas. What can I do?
This tool only fills pixels that are already transparent. If your photo has a solid background you want to replace, first remove it with the Background Remover or Make Image Transparent tool, then add the new background here.
Is the shadow added to the background or the object?
The drop shadow is drawn from the outline of the object, so it follows its exact shape, like a product resting on a surface. You can make it stronger, softer, or move it further down.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The images are combined on a canvas inside your browser and saved straight to your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
