How to use the Draw on Image
Add an image: drop it on the page, choose a file, or take a screenshot and press Ctrl+V. A sample screenshot is loaded so you can try the tools first.
Pick a tool from the toolbar: Pen, Highlight, Arrow, Box, Circle, Text, Step or Hide. Choose a color and a size.
Draw on the image by dragging. For Text, click where the label should start, type and press Enter. Each click with Step places the next number.
Adjust: switch to Move to drag an annotation, change its color or size, or press Delete to remove it. Ctrl+Z undoes the last change.
Save with Download PNG or JPG, or click Copy image to paste it straight into a chat, document or ticket.

Tips for clear annotations
Keep it to one message per image. Two or three arrows or steps are easier to follow than ten. If you need more, split the screenshot.
Use contrast, not size. Red and blue stand out on most interfaces; on dark screenshots, yellow or white reads better. Text labels get an automatic dark or light outline.
Point the arrow head at the target and start the tail in empty space, so the arrow does not cover what it points to.
Number the actions in the order the reader should do them, and keep the same color for related steps.
Hide before you share. Pixelate email addresses, order numbers, API keys and faces of people who did not agree to be shown.
Want to add a frame, gradient background and shadow afterwards? Run the result through the Screenshot Beautifier.
Frequently asked questions
How do I draw an arrow on a picture?
Choose the Arrow tool, then press where the arrow should start and drag to the point it should touch; the head is drawn at the end where you release. Hold Shift while dragging to snap the arrow to horizontal, vertical or 45° angles.
Can I edit or move something after drawing it?
Yes. Every arrow, box, label and step is kept as a separate annotation until you download. Choose the Move tool, click the mark to select it, then drag it, pick a new color or size, or press Delete.
How do I hide passwords or personal information in a screenshot?
Use the Hide tool and drag a rectangle over the sensitive area. It is replaced by large pixel blocks in the saved image. The blocks are made from heavily averaged pixels, so the original text cannot be read, but for very sensitive data a solid filled box is the safest option.
Will the image lose quality?
No. The picture is edited at its original resolution (up to 6000 pixels on the longest side) and PNG export is lossless. JPG export uses 92% quality and a white background for transparent areas.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Drawing works with a finger or stylus, the toolbar wraps for small screens, and you can open photos from your camera roll with Choose image.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is drawn on a canvas inside your browser and the PNG or JPG is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
What are numbered steps for?
They mark the order of actions in tutorials, bug reports and how-to guides. Each click with the Step tool places the next number in a bold circle, and the numbers continue from the highest step already on the image.
Are all the tools on FreeToolCabin tested for quality and accuracy?
Yes! Every tool on our site undergoes automated Q/A testing in real browser environments to ensure high precision, correct output, and zero errors. If you happen to spot a bug or have a suggestion, please contact us at [email protected] and our team will review it right away.
