How to use the Follower Growth Rate Calculator
Enter your follower count on a past date and the date itself.
Enter your current count and today's date (filled in for you).
Add a milestone, like 10,000 followers, and optionally a deadline.
Press Calculate growth rate to see your rate, daily gain and projected milestone date.
Download the projection as CSV to track progress against it.
Days to milestone (linear) = (milestone − current) ÷ average daily gain
Days to milestone (compound) = ln(milestone ÷ current) ÷ ln(1 + daily growth rate)
Example: an account grows from 4,200 followers on July 1 to 5,350 on October 24 (115 days). Net gain is 1,150 (27.38%), or 10 followers a day. Reaching 10,000 needs 4,650 more, so about 465 days at the same daily pace, or roughly 298 days if the compound growth rate of about 6.6% a month continued.

Tips for tracking growth
Record your count on the same day each week or month so periods are comparable.
Note what you posted around big jumps; repeating formats that drove spikes is the fastest lever.
Look at net growth: new followers minus unfollows. A high unfollow rate after a viral post often means the audience did not match your usual content.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate follower growth rate?
Follower growth rate = (followers now − followers at start) ÷ followers at start × 100. Going from 4,200 to 5,350 followers is a gain of 1,150, which is a 27.38% growth rate for that period.
How do I compare growth rates over different periods?
Convert them to the same unit. The calculator gives your average daily gain and a compound monthly growth rate, so a 90-day period and a 30-day period can be compared directly.
What is the difference between the linear and compound projection?
The linear projection assumes you keep gaining the same number of followers per day. The compound projection assumes you keep growing by the same percentage, so gains get bigger as your audience grows. Real growth usually lands between the two, closer to linear for established accounts.
Where do I find my old follower count?
Most platforms show follower history in their analytics: Instagram Insights, TikTok Analytics, YouTube Studio and X Analytics all have follower charts. You can also note your count on the first day of each month to build your own record.
Is follower growth the best metric to track?
It is a useful headline number, but pair it with engagement rate, reach and clicks. A smaller audience that engages often can be worth more to sponsors than a large passive one, and sudden spikes in followers without engagement can indicate low-quality accounts.
Why is my growth rate negative?
A negative rate means you lost more followers than you gained during the period. Platforms periodically remove inactive or fake accounts, which can cause sudden drops that have nothing to do with your content.
