Name followed by the cost of their own items, before tax and tip. Add several amounts on a line to sum them: Sam 12 + 6.50

Frequently asked questions
How do I split a bill with tip?
Add the tax and tip to the subtotal, then divide by the number of people. A $120 bill with 8.25% tax ($9.90) and an 18% tip on the subtotal ($21.60) totals $151.50, which is $37.88 each for four people (four payments of $37.88 cover it with 2 cents to spare).
How do I split a bill unevenly?
Use By shares when some people should pay a multiple (a couple counts as 2 shares), or By what each person ordered to charge each person for their own items. Tax and tip are then split in the same proportion as each person's food.
Should the tip be calculated before or after tax?
Etiquette guides commonly suggest tipping on the pre-tax amount, since tax isn't part of the service. Many people tip on the total anyway for simplicity. The calculator supports both.
How are shared appetizers handled?
In the by-item mode, enter shared items in the Shared items field. That amount is split equally among everyone listed, then added to each person's own items before tax and tip.
What does rounding up do?
It rounds each person's share up to the next whole amount, such as $37.88 to $38. The calculator shows the extra collected, which you can add to the tip.
