How Twitch earnings are calculated
Subscriptions = Σ (subs in tier × tier price) × your revenue share. Prime and gifted subs are counted at the Tier 1 price.
Bits = bits cheered × $0.01.
Ads = average viewers × hours streamed × ad slots per hour × share of viewers who see ads ÷ 1,000 × CPM × your ad share.
Total = subs + bits + ads + sponsorships + tips after payment fees.
Example: 120 Tier 1, 8 Tier 2, 2 Tier 3, 40 Prime and 30 gifted subs at a 50% split give (120 × 4.99 + 8 × 9.99 + 2 × 24.99 + 70 × 4.99) × 0.5 = $539.00. 15,000 bits add $150. With 80 viewers for 80 hours, 3 ad minutes per hour (6 slots), 70% ad visibility, a $4 CPM and a 55% share, ads add 26,880 ÷ 1,000 × 4 × 0.55 ≈ $59.14. Tips of $150 minus 3.5% fees add $144.75, for about $892.89 a month.

Tips for a realistic estimate
Use 30-day averages. Sub counts and bits swing a lot around events, so take numbers from your analytics instead of a single good day.
Ads depend on viewers who actually see them. Turbo users, subscribers with ad-free benefits and ad blockers reduce impressions; lower the "viewers who see ads" figure if your audience is mostly subscribed.
Sponsorships are often the biggest lever for mid-size channels. Enter only confirmed deals, averaged per month.
Taxes are not included. Plan for income tax and self-employment tax on the total.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a Twitch streamer get per sub?
The streamer receives their revenue share of the sub price. With the standard 50% split on a US$4.99 Tier 1 sub that is about $2.50; with a 70% split it is about $3.49. Twitch's share also covers payment processing and taxes, and regional prices are lower in many countries, so real payouts per sub vary.
How much is 1 bit worth to a streamer?
Streamers receive US$0.01 per bit cheered, so 1,000 bits pay $10. Viewers pay a little more than a cent per bit when they buy them, and that difference is kept by Twitch.
Do Prime subs pay the same as Tier 1?
A Prime Gaming sub counts like a Tier 1 sub for the streamer, but the payout is set by Twitch and is often similar to or slightly below a paid Tier 1 sub. Enter your own figure from the Twitch revenue dashboard for the most accurate result.
How is Twitch ad revenue calculated here?
Ad impressions = average viewers × hours streamed × ad slots per hour × the share of viewers who actually see ads. Revenue = impressions ÷ 1,000 × CPM × your ad revenue share. CPMs change by season, country and audience, so treat the default as an example.
What is the Twitch 70/30 split?
Under the Partner Plus program, eligible streamers receive 70% of net subscription revenue instead of the standard 50%, up to an annual cap set by Twitch. Check the current program rules in your creator dashboard, as eligibility and caps have changed over time.
Is this before or after taxes?
Before taxes. Streaming income is usually self-employment income, so set aside money for income tax and, in the US, self-employment tax. The self-employment tax calculator can help estimate that.
How accurate is this estimate?
It is only as accurate as the numbers you enter. Sub counts change daily, gift subs come in bursts, and ad fill rates vary, so use the last 30 days from your analytics for the best estimate.
