Amazon FBA Calculator
Estimate what you keep from each Amazon FBA sale. Pick a category to fill in the referral rate, enter your FBA fee and costs, and see the profit per unit, margin, ROI and break-even price. Every fee is editable because Amazon changes them often.
Amazon changes its fees regularly and some categories use tiered referral rates. The defaults are typical examples only: check current fees and enter the FBA fee for your product's size and weight tier.

Amazon FBA profit formula
- Referral fee = max(price × referral %, minimum referral fee)
- Total Amazon fees = referral fee + FBA fulfillment fee + storage + closing / other fees
- Profit per unit = price − Amazon fees − PPC − product cost − inbound shipping − prep
- Net margin = profit ÷ price × 100
- ROI = profit ÷ (product cost + inbound + prep) × 100
- Break-even price = fixed costs ÷ (1 − referral %)
Worked example
| Line item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Selling price | $29.99 |
| Referral fee (15%) | −$4.50 |
| FBA fulfillment fee | −$4.50 |
| Monthly storage | −$0.15 |
| PPC advertising | −$2.00 |
| Product cost + inbound + prep | −$7.85 |
| Profit per unit | $10.99 (36.65% margin, 140% ROI) |
Break-even price: (4.50 + 0.15 + 2.00 + 7.85) ÷ (1 − 0.15) = $17.06.
Typical referral fee rates by category
| Category | Typical referral rate |
|---|---|
| Most categories (home, toys, sports, beauty) | 15% |
| Consumer electronics, computers, camera | 8% |
| Clothing & accessories | About 17% (lower on cheap items) |
| Jewelry | About 20% (lower above a price threshold) |
| Amazon device accessories | About 45% |
Several categories have tiered rates that depend on the price, and Amazon updates fees regularly. Use these as starting points and check current fees in Seller Central before you set a price.
Frequently asked questions
How are Amazon FBA fees calculated?
The two main fees are the referral fee, a percentage of the selling price that depends on the category (often 15%, with a minimum per item), and the FBA fulfillment fee, a fixed amount per unit based on size and weight. Monthly storage, possible closing fees for media and optional advertising come on top.
Where do I find my exact FBA fee?
Amazon publishes its current fee tables in Seller Central, and its own revenue calculator shows the fee for a specific product. Fees and size tiers change regularly, so this calculator lets you type the exact numbers instead of relying on built-in values.
What is a good profit margin on Amazon FBA?
Many sellers aim for a net margin of 20% to 30% and an ROI of 100% or more on product cost, so there is room for price drops, returns and ad cost increases. Margins under about 15% can disappear quickly.
How is the break-even price calculated?
It is the price where profit is zero: (all fixed per-unit costs) ÷ (1 − referral rate). If the referral fee at that price would be below the minimum fee, the minimum is used instead.
What does ROI on cost mean here?
It is profit per unit divided by the money you spend to get one unit to Amazon (product cost, inbound shipping and prep). An item that costs $7.85 to land and earns $10.99 profit has an ROI of about 140%.
Is this calculator affiliated with Amazon?
No. It is an independent estimate that runs in your browser. Always check current fees in your seller account before making pricing decisions. This is not financial or tax advice.
