Frequently asked questions
What does Net 30 mean?
Net 30 means the full invoice amount is due 30 calendar days after the invoice date. An invoice dated March 1 is due March 31.
Does Net 30 include weekends?
Yes, net terms count calendar days, including weekends and holidays. If the due date falls on a weekend, many businesses treat the next business day as the deadline; the weekend option handles that.
What does Net 30 EOM mean?
EOM means end of month. Net 30 EOM usually means payment is due 30 days after the end of the month in which the invoice was issued, so an invoice dated March 10 is due April 30. Plain EOM terms mean payment is due at the end of the invoice month.
What does 15 MFI mean?
MFI stands for month following invoice. 15 MFI means payment is due on the 15th of the month after the invoice date, so an invoice from March 10 or March 28 is due April 15.
Does the day count start on the invoice date?
Net terms are usually counted from the invoice date, with the next day as day 1. Some contracts count from the delivery or receipt date instead; in that case enter that date as the invoice date.
What happens if an invoice is paid late?
That depends on the contract. Common consequences are a late fee or interest such as 1.5% a month, and suppliers may hold further orders. Use the Late Payment Interest Calculator to work out the charges.
