Dubai time zone explained
Dubai and the rest of the United Arab Emirates use Gulf Standard Time (GST), UTC+04:00, with no daylight saving time. The clock reading is the same in January and July, which makes Dubai easy to plan around: only the other side of the call moves. Oman also uses UTC+4, while neighbouring Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait are one hour behind on UTC+3.
The abbreviation GST here means Gulf Standard Time. It is not the same as the South Georgia time zone (also sometimes written GST, UTC−2), so it is safer to write “UTC+4” in invitations sent to an international audience.

Tips for calling or meeting with Dubai
- From Europe: the morning in London or Paris overlaps with the Dubai afternoon; a 9:00 AM London call is 12:00 or 1:00 PM in Dubai.
- From the US East Coast: the overlap is small. 7:00 to 8:00 AM in New York reaches Dubai in mid-afternoon.
- From the US West Coast: an evening call (around 8 to 9 PM in California) arrives in Dubai at about 7 to 9 AM the next morning.
- Plan around the week: the official weekend is Saturday and Sunday, and Friday is often a shorter working day.
- Ramadan: many offices work shorter hours during the holy month, so confirm availability in advance.
