How to use the UTC Time Now
- Read the big clock: it shows the current UTC time in 24-hour format, with today's UTC date below.
- Copy a format: press Copy next to ISO 8601, Unix seconds, milliseconds or the HTTP date.
- Check your offset: the cards below show your local time, how far you are ahead of or behind UTC and your time zone.
- Convert a time: pick a date and time, choose From and To (UTC, an offset such as UTC−05:00, or your local time) and press Convert.
- Compare cities in the table, which shows each city's current time, offset and whether it is already the next day.

How to convert between UTC and a UTC offset
A UTC offset tells you how far a clock is ahead of (+) or behind (−) UTC. The rule is simple:
- Local time = UTC + offset. 14:00 UTC at UTC+05:30 is 14:00 + 5:30 = 19:30.
- UTC = local time − offset. 08:00 at UTC+05:30 is 08:00 − 5:30 = 02:30 UTC.
- Crossing midnight: 02:30 UTC at UTC−03:00 is 02:30 − 3:00 = −0:30, which is 23:30 on the previous day.
- Between two offsets: convert to UTC first, then to the second offset. 09:00 at UTC−05:00 = 14:00 UTC = 23:00 at UTC+09:00.
UTC time formats
| Format | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 8601 | 2026-10-19T14:03:22Z | The Z suffix means UTC; used in APIs, JSON and logs |
| ISO 8601 with offset | 2026-10-19T19:33:22+05:30 | The same moment written in local time with its offset |
| Unix time | 1792418602 | Seconds since 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC |
| HTTP date (RFC 7231) | Mon, 19 Oct 2026 14:03:22 GMT | Used in web headers and email |
| Military / aviation | 1403Z | Read as fourteen zero three Zulu |
Frequently asked questions
What is the UTC time now?
The large clock at the top of this page shows the current UTC time, read from your device's clock and updated every second. UTC does not change for daylight saving time, so it is the same everywhere in the world at any moment.
Is GMT the same as UTC?
For everyday purposes, yes: GMT and UTC show the same time. Technically UTC is an atomic time standard and GMT is a time zone used by the UK in winter. The UK switches to BST (UTC+01:00) in summer, but UTC itself never changes.
What is Zulu time?
Zulu time is the military and aviation name for UTC. The letter Z, as in 2026-10-19T14:03:22Z, means the time is in UTC with a zero offset.
How do I convert UTC to my local time?
Add your UTC offset to the UTC time. If you are at UTC−05:00 and it is 14:00 UTC, your local time is 09:00. Use the offset converter: set From to UTC and To to Your local time.
What is a Unix timestamp?
A Unix timestamp counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 at 00:00:00 UTC, ignoring leap seconds. It is the same number everywhere in the world, which makes it ideal for storing times in software.
Why do some time zones have offsets like +05:30 or +05:45?
Some countries chose a local standard time halfway or three quarters between whole hours. India uses UTC+05:30, Nepal uses UTC+05:45 and parts of Australia use UTC+09:30.
How accurate is this UTC clock?
It uses your device's system clock. Most phones and computers synchronise with internet time servers automatically, so the clock is usually accurate to within a second.
