Turn any video or GIF into a meme. Use the popular white caption bar above the clip, or classic white Impact text with a black outline on top of the picture. Adjust font, size, padding and colors with a live preview, then export an MP4 with sound or a looping GIF.

Reaction clips, relatable captions, longer setups
Short punchlines, classic two-part jokes
Output size
Width stays the same, height = bar + video
Same size as the video (scaled to the chosen width)
How the text is sized
Font size and padding are set as a percentage of the output width, so a caption looks the same whether you export 360 px or 1080 px wide. Line height is 1.18 × the font size, and each caption bar is lines × line height + 2 × padding tall. For a 720 px wide video at the default 7% size and 3% padding, the font is about 50 px, padding is about 22 px and a two-line caption bar is roughly 163 px tall.

Tips for funnier, more readable video memes
Keep it short. One or two lines read in the first second; viewers scroll past long paragraphs.
Put the setup in the caption, the punchline in the video. The text should make the viewer anticipate what happens next.
Trim first. Memes work best at 3-15 seconds; cut the clip to the moment that matters.
Use the outline on busy footage. White Impact with a thick black outline stays readable on snow, sky and dark scenes alike.
Be kind. Only use clips you are allowed to share, and avoid captions that target real private people.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a white caption bar on top of a video?
Choose the Caption bar style and type your text. A white bar is added above the video and its height grows to fit the caption, so the video itself is never covered. Black Arial Bold text is the default; you can switch to Impact or another font and change the bar and text colors.
How do I make a classic meme with top and bottom text on a video?
Choose Text on video. The top and bottom captions are drawn over the picture in white Impact with a black outline and ALL CAPS, the traditional image macro look. The outline keeps the text readable on both light and dark scenes.
Can I add a caption to a GIF?
Yes. Drop an animated GIF instead of a video. Its frames and timing are read in your browser, the caption is drawn on every frame, and you can export it again as a GIF (keeping the original frame timing) or convert it to an MP4.
Should I export MP4 or GIF?
MP4 keeps the sound, has full color and is many times smaller, so use it for TikTok, Instagram, X and messaging apps. A GIF loops silently everywhere, including places that do not autoplay video, but it is limited to 256 colors; keep it at 480 px wide or smaller and under about 15 seconds.
What font is used for memes?
Classic image macros use Impact in white with a black outline. Modern caption-bar memes usually use a bold sans-serif such as Arial Bold or a condensed geometric font in black on a white bar. If a font is not installed on your device, a similar bold font is used automatically.
Why is my GIF meme cut short?
To keep files usable, GIF export includes at most 360 frames (30 seconds at 12 fps). For longer clips choose MP4, which has no limit beyond your device's memory.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The caption is drawn and the file is encoded entirely on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server and no watermark is added.
