Make a boomerang: a short clip that plays forward, then backward, again and again. Pick a 1-3 second moment from any video or record a quick webcam burst, set the speed and number of loops, and export an MP4 or an endlessly looping GIF.

How to use the Boomerang Video Maker
Choose a video, press Try a sample clip, or press Record a webcam burst for a 3-second clip.
Pick the moment with the Start and Length sliders; the preview loops forward and backward right away.
Set the speed and loops. 1.5×-2× gives the classic snappy boomerang look.
Choose MP4 or GIF and the size.
Press Create boomerang, then download the file.
How a boomerang loop is built
The clip is sampled at the output frame rate, stepping through the source by speed ÷ fps seconds per frame. If that gives F frames forward, one loop is frames 1 → F followed by F−1 → 2 backward. The first and last frames are not repeated, so the turnarounds are smooth and the loop joins itself without a stutter.
Frames forward F = length × fps ÷ speed + 1
Frames per loop = 2F − 2
Boomerang length = loops × (2F − 2) ÷ fps

Ideas that make great boomerangs
Clear back-and-forth action: jumping, a high five, clinking glasses, a splash, throwing confetti, a pet's head tilt.
Keep the camera still. The background should stay put while only the subject moves, otherwise the loop looks shaky.
Short and fast wins. 1-1.5 s of motion at 1.5×-2× is the classic look; slow speeds suit water and hair.
For GIFs, use 15-20 fps and 320-480p; a 3-second 480p GIF is usually 1-5 MB depending on detail.
Frequently asked questions
What is a boomerang video?
A boomerang is a very short clip, usually 1-2 seconds, that plays forward and then in reverse in a continuous loop, so a jump, a toast or a hair flip goes back and forth. The effect was made popular by phone camera apps; this tool creates the same loop from any video.
How do I make a boomerang from a video I already have?
Load the video, move the Start slider to the moment you want and set the Length to 1-2 seconds. The preview immediately loops forward and backward. Choose a speed and how many back-and-forth loops to include, then press Create boomerang.
How long will my boomerang be?
One loop has the clip's frames forward plus the same frames backward without repeating the two end frames. At 1.5 s, 1× speed and 30 fps that is 46 frames forward and 44 back, about 3 seconds; three loops make about 9 seconds. Speeding up to 2× halves the length.
Should I export MP4 or GIF?
MP4 is much smaller and sharper, and it is what Instagram, TikTok and messaging apps expect; most apps loop short videos automatically. A GIF loops forever everywhere, including chats, emails and websites, but it is limited to 256 colors, so keep it at 480p or smaller and 15-20 fps.
Can I make a boomerang with my webcam?
Yes. Press Record a webcam burst and allow camera access. After a 3-second countdown the tool records a 3-second clip, then loads it so you can pick the best part. The recording stays on your device.
Does the boomerang have sound?
No. Audio played backwards sounds strange and boomerangs are traditionally silent, so the exported file has no sound.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Frames are read and encoded locally by your browser. Nothing is uploaded and no watermark is added.
