Pull the soundtrack out of a QuickTime MOV video and save it as an MP3: an iPhone concert clip, a voice-over from a screen recording or the audio of a Final Cut export. Trim it to the part you need, convert several videos at once, and keep everything on your own device.

MP3 bitrate (LAME encoder)
How it works: the page reads each MOV's track list itself (audio codec, channels, length), then extracts the audio with FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly and the LAME MP3 encoder. The video track is never decoded, so it is fast even for 4K or ProRes files. FFmpeg downloads once (about 31 MB, then cached); your videos are never uploaded.

How to use the MOV to MP3
Add MOV videos: drop them on the box or click Choose MOV files. MP4 and M4V files work too.
Optionally trim: press ▶ to preview a video and use Set start here / Set end here, or type times like 1:05.5 in the Start and End boxes.
Choose the MP3 bitrate: 192 kbps is right for most phone videos; 128 kbps and Mono suit lectures and voice notes.
Press Convert to MP3. FFmpeg downloads once (about 31 MB) the first time.
Download each MP3, or Download all (ZIP).
What audio is inside a MOV file?
MOV is Apple's QuickTime container. It can hold many audio formats, and the one inside decides whether the MP3 can be copied directly or has to be re-encoded:
Source of the MOV
Typical audio track
What the converter does
Suggested MP3
iPhone / iPad camera
AAC, 44.1 or 48 kHz, stereo (some models record 4-channel spatial audio)
Re-encodes AAC to MP3, mixes extra channels to stereo
192 or 256 kbps
QuickTime screen recording (Mac)
AAC, 44.1 or 48 kHz, mono or stereo
Re-encodes to MP3
128 kbps mono for voice-over
Final Cut / Premiere ProRes export
Uncompressed PCM, 24-bit, 48 kHz
Encodes the lossless audio to MP3
320 kbps or VBR V0
Digital cameras (Canon, Nikon, Sony)

How long the MP3 will be and how big
MP3 file size is bitrate (kbps) × 1000 × duration (s) ÷ 8 bytes, and only the trimmed range counts. Examples for a 10-minute clip:

Tips
Trimming is sample-accurate when re-encoding. With stream copy, cuts land on the nearest MP3 frame (about 26 ms), which is not noticeable.
Multiple audio tracks: some MOV files from editing apps contain several audio tracks (for example dialogue and music). The first audio track is extracted; the list shows if there are more.
A file that "does not open" is often a recording that was interrupted before the phone finished writing it (no moov atom). Such files cannot be read by any converter.
Need lossless audio instead? Use MP4 to WAV, which also accepts MOV files.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a MOV file to MP3?
Add the MOV video, pick a bitrate (192 kbps by default) and press Convert to MP3. The audio track is extracted with FFmpeg and encoded by LAME inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up or watermark.
Can I extract audio from an iPhone video?
Yes. iPhone and iPad videos are saved as MOV with AAC audio (usually 44.1 or 48 kHz stereo). Add the video and the tool converts the AAC soundtrack to MP3. HEVC (High Efficiency) videos work too, because the video track does not need to be decoded.
What does stream copy mean?
If a MOV already contains MP3 audio, the tool can copy the MP3 frames into a new .mp3 file without decoding and re-encoding them. That is instant and has zero quality loss. Most MOV files contain AAC or PCM audio, which must be re-encoded to MP3; the list shows which applies.
Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
Match or slightly exceed the source: phone videos usually have AAC at 128 to 256 kbps, so 192 or 256 kbps MP3 sounds the same. Use 320 kbps or VBR V0 for PCM or ProRes exports with uncompressed audio, and 128 kbps mono for speech.
How do I extract only part of the audio?
Each video in the list has Start and End boxes. Type times as minutes:seconds (for example 0:42.5), or press ▶ to open the preview player, pause where you want and press Set start here or Set end here. Only that range is converted.
Why can't my browser preview the video?
Some MOV files use codecs a browser cannot play, such as ProRes or HEVC in Chrome on older Windows PCs. The audio can still be extracted because FFmpeg reads it directly; just type the trim times instead of using the preview.
Is there a file size limit?
The input file is read straight from your disk without copying it into memory, so large videos up to about 4 GB can be processed. The extracted MP3 is small: about 1.4 MB per minute at 192 kbps.
