Mirror a video left to right (handy for selfie and webcam clips where text reads backwards) or flip it upside down. You see the result live before saving, the sound is kept, and the video never leaves your device.

Horizontal, vertical or both: which flip do you need?
Problem
Flip to use
Result
Text, signs or a T-shirt print read backwards (selfie / webcam clip)
Horizontal
Left and right swap, text reads normally again
You want a person to face the other way in an edit
Horizontal
A mirror image, motion goes the other direction
A reflection shot in water or a mirror should look upright
When you film with the front camera, most phones show you a mirror image on screen because that feels natural, like looking in a mirror. Some phones and apps also save the recording that way, while others save the true, un-mirrored view. The result is that writing on clothes or signs appears backwards in the final clip. A horizontal flip is the fix: it swaps every pixel column, so the left edge becomes the right edge and the text reads correctly.
Keep in mind that flipping also swaps the direction people look and move. If someone points to their right in the original, they will point to the left of the frame afterwards.
How the flip is made in your browser
Each frame of your video is drawn onto an HTML canvas with a mirror transform (a scale of −1 on the chosen axis), and the canvas is recorded together with the original soundtrack by your browser's built-in encoder. This needs no upload and no plug-in, but the recording runs at normal playback speed, so the export takes about as long as the clip.
Frequently asked questions
How do I fix a mirrored selfie video?
Front cameras often save a mirror image, so text and logos read backwards. Open the video here, keep Horizontal selected and export. Horizontal flipping swaps left and right, which turns a mirrored clip back into the true view.
What is the difference between flipping and rotating a video?
Flipping creates a mirror image: a horizontal flip swaps left and right, a vertical flip swaps top and bottom. Rotating turns the whole picture around its centre without mirroring it. Flipping both horizontally and vertically gives the same picture as rotating 180 degrees.
Does flipping a video change the sound?
No. Only the picture is mirrored. The original audio track is recorded alongside the flipped picture, so speech and music stay in sync. Untick Keep the original sound if you want a silent copy.
Why does the export take as long as the video?
Browsers record video in real time with the MediaRecorder API, so the clip plays once in the background while every frame is flipped and encoded. A 1 minute video takes about 1 minute. Keep the tab open and visible while it works.
Will I get an MP4 file?
Chrome, Edge and Safari can record MP4 with H.264 video, and the MP4 option is selected automatically when it is available. Firefox records WebM, which plays in all modern browsers, VLC and most editors, and can be uploaded to YouTube.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened by your browser and flipped on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it also works for private clips.
Does flipping reduce the video quality?
The picture has to be re-encoded, which always loses a little detail. Choose High or Maximum quality and keep the Original size to get a copy that looks the same as the source.
