Type a message and press Show fullscreen to fill the whole screen with it in the largest letters that fit. Use it as an airport pickup sign, a concert sign, a quiet note across a room, or a message on a TV.

How to use the Big Text Display
Type your message in the box, or tap a quick phrase. Press Enter for a new line.
Pick a theme or set your own text and background colours, then choose a font.
Choose an effect such as blink or colour cycle if you want to catch attention.
Press Show fullscreen. The text fills the screen and stays awake. Turn your phone sideways for bigger letters.
Tap the screen for controls, or press Esc to exit. Use Copy share link to send the same sign to someone else.
How the auto-fit works
Every time you type, change the font or resize the window, the tool tries font sizes with a binary search: it sets a size, checks whether the text still fits inside the screen (minus a small margin) without any word being cut, and halves the remaining range until it finds the largest size that fits. That takes under 20 measurements, so the result is instant. Words are never split in the middle, so one very long word decides the maximum size; put long names on their own line for the biggest letters.
The shape of the screen matters as much as its size. One short word is limited by the screen width, so a phone held sideways (landscape) shows it roughly twice as tall as in portrait. Several short lines, such as a name and a flight number, fit better in portrait.
How far away can people read it?
Sign makers use a rule of thumb of about 1 inch of letter height for every 10 feet of comfortable reading distance (about 1 cm per 3.5 m). People with good eyesight can read letters at two to three times that distance, but quickly and without squinting is what a sign needs. Use the table to judge which screen to use. Letter height here means the height of a capital letter, roughly 70% of the font size.
Capital letter height
Comfortable reading distance
Typical example
1 in (2.5 cm)
about 10 ft (3 m)
A long sentence on a phone
2 in (5 cm)
about 20 ft (6 m)
One or two words on a phone in landscape
4 in (10 cm)
about 40 ft (12 m)
A short word on a 12 to 13 inch tablet or laptop
8 in (20 cm)
about 80 ft (24 m)
A short word on a 32 to 40 inch TV
12 in (30 cm)
about 120 ft (37 m)
A short word on a 55 to 65 inch TV or a projector
Tips for a sign people will notice
Keep it short. Two or three words are read at a glance and appear much larger than a full sentence.
Use strong contrast. Yellow on black, white on black and black on yellow are the easiest to read. The contrast badge shows the WCAG ratio; aim for at least 4.5:1, and avoid anything under 3:1.
Turn brightness up in your device settings. A web page cannot raise the backlight, and a dim screen is hard to read in daylight.
Use Flip 180° when you hold a phone over your head or prop it upside down on a stand, so the people facing you see the text the right way up.
Prefer gentle effects. Colour cycle and pulse catch the eye without flashing. Save blink and strobe for short moments and never use them near anyone sensitive to flashing light.
Prepare it before you need it. Copy the share link and save it, or send it to the person collecting someone, so the sign is one tap away even with a weak signal.
Popular uses
Airport and station pickup signs, cheering at sports games, races and concerts, silent messages across a classroom, office or studio ("Recording", "Quiet please"), table numbers and directions at events, a welcome screen on a TV for guests, and showing a word to someone who is hard of hearing or across a noisy room.
Frequently asked questions
How big will the text be?
The tool measures your screen and picks the largest font size at which every word fits without being cut off. Short messages fill almost the whole screen; longer messages wrap onto several lines and get smaller. On a phone, landscape orientation usually gives much larger letters for one or two words.
Can I share my sign with someone else?
Yes. Copy share link puts your message, theme, font and effect into the link itself (after the # sign). Anyone who opens it sees the same display, and the message is never sent to a server because the part after # stays in the browser.
Will my screen turn off while the text is showing?
In browsers that support the Screen Wake Lock API (recent Chrome, Edge, Safari 16.4 and later, Samsung Internet) the page keeps the screen on while the display is open. In other browsers, set a longer screen timeout in your device settings.
Is the flashing mode safe?
Flashing light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Blink and invert flash at most twice per second, and strobe is capped at 3 flashes per second, the WCAG accessibility threshold. Avoid flashing effects if anyone watching may be sensitive; colour cycle changes smoothly and does not flash.
Which colours are easiest to read from far away?
High contrast matters most: yellow or white on black, or black on yellow, are the classic choices used on road signs and stage displays. Dark backgrounds also glare less at night and use less battery on OLED phones.
Can I use it on a TV or projector?
Yes. Open the page in the TV's browser or on a laptop connected by HDMI or screen casting, then press Show fullscreen. The text resizes to whatever screen it is on, so the same link works on a phone, a monitor or a projector.
Does it work without internet?
Once the page has loaded, everything runs locally in your browser, so the display keeps working if you lose signal. Your message is only stored on your own device so it is still there next time.
