How to use the Text Repeater

  1. Type or paste the text you want to repeat. Emoji and any language work.
  2. Enter the number of repetitions or click a quick count such as 100 or 1K.
  3. Choose a separator: nothing, a space, a new line, a comma or your own custom text.
  4. Tick the options to number each copy or put every copy on a new line.
  5. Press Repeat text, then Copy text or Download .txt to use the result.

How big will the repeated text be?

The length of the output is easy to predict: total characters = (text length × copies) + (separator length × (copies − 1)). Numbering adds the digits plus a dot and a space to every copy. For example, repeating the 5-letter word hello 1,000 times with a space gives 5 × 1,000 + 1 × 999 = 5,999 characters.

TextCopiesSeparatorOutput characters
hello (5)100space599

A sentence of 50 characters10,000new line509,999

Plain English letters take one byte each in a UTF-8 .txt file, accented letters two bytes and most emoji four bytes, which is why the size box can show more bytes than characters.

Character limits of popular apps

Before you paste a long repeated message, compare the character count with the limit of the place you are pasting it into:

PlatformApproximate limit
SMS text message160 characters per segment (70 with emoji or non-Latin characters)
X (Twitter) post280 characters (longer for Premium)
Discord message2,000 characters (4,000 with Nitro)
Instagram caption2,200 characters
YouTube comment10,000 characters

Useful ways to repeat text

  • Testing software: fill input fields, databases or text areas with long strings to check limits, wrapping and performance.
  • Layout and design: create long lines or paragraphs to see how a web page or document handles overflow.
  • Practice sheets: repeat a word or sentence on separate numbered lines for handwriting, spelling or language drills.
  • Lists and templates: repeat a row template such as Name: , Email: and fill it in later.
  • Fun messages: repeat an emoji or a short phrase for a birthday or celebration message, kept to a friendly length.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I repeat text?

Up to 100,000 times. To keep your browser fast, the total output is also limited to 10 million characters; if a long text times a big count would go over that, the tool repeats it as many times as fits and tells you so.

Why does the preview stop before the end?

Showing millions of characters in a text box makes browsers slow, so the preview shows the first 50,000 characters. Copy text and Download .txt always include the complete output.

How do I repeat text on separate lines?

Choose New line as the separator, or tick Put each copy on a new line to combine a line break with another separator such as a comma.

Can I use a custom separator?

Yes. Choose Custom and type anything, for example a pipe, a dash or a word. Type \n for a line break and \t for a tab.

Does it work with emoji?

Yes. Emoji, accented letters and any script are repeated exactly. Note that many emoji count as two or more characters in character counters, so the character total can be higher than the number of visible symbols.

Will messaging apps accept very long repeated text?

Most apps have limits: an X post allows 280 characters, a WhatsApp message about 65,000 and a Discord message 2,000 (4,000 with Nitro). Check the character count before pasting. Please don't use repeated text to spam people.
