Pick an action verb, describe the task, add the number that proves the result and how you did it. The generator builds up to eight bullet variants with the XYZ formula, scores them on a six-point checklist and shows each one's length so it fits on one or two lines.
Last updated:
What you did
Past tense works best, e.g. "Orchestrated".

The Z in the XYZ formula. Optional, but makes bullets far more specific.
Measurable result
"customer churn", "support tickets per week", "new clients".
Starts with a verb ending in -ing: "adding…", "earning a company award", "freeing 2 analysts for new projects".

Frequently asked questions
What is the XYZ formula for resume bullets?
The XYZ formula, popularized by a former Google recruiting leader, says: accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]. X is what you achieved, Y is the number that proves it, and Z is how you did it. For example: Increased trial-to-paid conversion by 18% within 6 months by redesigning the onboarding email sequence.
How long should a resume bullet point be?
One to two lines is the usual target, roughly 90 to 210 characters. Recruiters scan quickly, so lead with the verb and the result and cut filler words. The tool labels each variant as about 1 line, about 2 lines or too long.
What if I do not have exact numbers?
Use honest estimates (about 20%, roughly 40 customers a week) or count something you can verify: people trained, projects delivered, tickets resolved, pages written. Avoid inventing figures; you may be asked about them in an interview. If there is truly no number, the tool still builds action + method bullets and reminds you what is missing.
Should resume bullets be in past or present tense?
Use past tense for previous jobs and for finished achievements in your current job. Use present tense only for ongoing responsibilities in your current role. Keep tense consistent within each job.
Why avoid starting with 'Responsible for'?
"Responsible for" describes a duty, not a result, and wastes the most important words of the line. Starting with a strong action verb (Led, Reduced, Launched) shows what you actually did. The generator removes weak openers automatically and lets you pick a verb instead.
How many bullet points should each job have?
Three to six bullets for recent or relevant roles is common, and one to three for older or less relevant ones. Put your strongest, most measurable achievement first under each job.
Do periods go at the end of resume bullets?
Either style is acceptable. Bullets are often written as fragments without a final period; if you use periods, use them on every bullet. Consistency matters more than the choice.
