Weigh it, log it, and watch the season add up. Record every harvest by crop, date and weight, then see totals per crop and per season, a month-by-month chart and how much the same produce would have cost at your grocery store.

How to use the Garden Harvest Tracker
Weigh your harvest on a kitchen or luggage scale.
Log it: pick the date, type the crop, enter the weight and unit, add an optional note and press Log harvest.
Add store prices: in Totals by crop, type what your grocery store charges per pound (or kg) for each crop to see the money saved.
Review the season: switch seasons, read the monthly chart and top crops, or filter the log by crop.
Back it up: download a CSV at the end of the season, or copy a summary to share.
How the totals are worked out
Figure
Formula
Example
Crop total
Sum of every harvest of that crop in the season
3.2 + 6.5 + 8.2 + 5.4 lb tomatoes = 23.3 lb
Crop value
Crop total (lb) × your store price per lb
23.3 lb × $2.50 = $58.25
Grocery value
Sum of all crop values
Tomatoes + beans + squash + …
Net savings (do it yourself)
Grocery value − season costs (seeds, plants, soil, water, tools)
$310 − $95 = $215
Weight conversions used: 1 lb = 16 oz = 453.59237 g; 1 kg = 1000 g ≈ 2.2046 lb.
Tips for keeping a useful harvest log
Keep a scale by the door. A cheap kitchen scale for small picks and a luggage or bathroom scale (weigh yourself with and without the basket) for big ones makes logging a habit.
Log on the day you pick. The date drives the monthly chart, which shows when each crop peaks and helps you plan succession sowing.
Use the note for varieties. Writing the variety or bed lets you compare which tomato or bean actually produced the most.
Use real store prices. Check the price per pound for the same quality (organic vs conventional) you would otherwise buy; it changes the value a lot.
Compare seasons. Switch the Season menu between years to see whether new beds, compost or watering changes increased your yield.
Frequently asked questions
How is the grocery value calculated?
For each crop the tracker multiplies the total weight harvested (in pounds) by the store price per pound you entered, then adds the crops together. If you show totals in kilograms, prices are entered per kilogram and converted. Crops without a price are left out and counted under the value card.
Does the grocery value equal my real savings?
Not exactly. It is what the same produce would cost to buy, which is a good measure of what the garden produced. To estimate net savings, subtract what you spent on seeds, plants, soil, fertilizer, water and supplies that season.
What counts as a season?
A season is a calendar year, based on each harvest's date. Choose a year in the Season menu, or All seasons to combine every year you have logged. Fall crops picked in December stay in that year.
Should I weigh produce before or after cleaning?
Pick one method and stick to it so seasons are comparable. Many gardeners weigh after trimming off roots, tops and damaged parts, since that is closer to what you would buy at the store.
Can I log things I count rather than weigh, like eggs or ears of corn?
This tracker records weight so totals and values are consistent. For counted items, weigh a typical batch once, or log an average weight per item times the count, and note the count in the note field.
Where is my harvest log saved?
Only in your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing browsing data removes it, so download a CSV regularly; you can import that CSV later on another device or browser.
How do I convert between pounds and kilograms?
One pound is 0.45359237 kilograms and one kilogram is about 2.2046 pounds. One pound also equals 16 ounces. The tracker stores every weight precisely and converts automatically when you switch units.
