How weeks are counted
Doctors count pregnancy in completed weeks from the first day of the last period. "12 weeks pregnant" means 12 weeks and 0 to 6 days have passed, so you are in the 13th week. Each row of the calendar shows both: the weeks-pregnant number and the week of pregnancy you are in. Only about 1 in 20 babies arrives on the due date itself; most are born between 37 and 42 weeks.
Tips for using your calendar
Book screening tests early: some windows, such as the nuchal translucency scan, are only a couple of weeks wide.
Add the .ics file to a shared calendar so a partner or family member sees the same dates.
Bring the printed calendar to your first visit and update it if your provider changes your due date.
Frequently asked questions
How is the pregnancy calendar calculated?
Pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). The due date is LMP + 280 days (40 weeks). If you enter a due date, the calendar works backwards 280 days; from a conception date it subtracts 14 days to find the LMP-equivalent start. Every week and event is then placed by counting days from that start.
What are the trimester dates?
The first trimester runs from the start of pregnancy to 13 weeks 6 days, the second from 14 weeks 0 days to 27 weeks 6 days, and the third from 28 weeks until birth. The calendar shows the exact dates each one begins for your pregnancy.
Which tests and appointments are included?
Common US windows: first prenatal visit (8–10 weeks), cell-free DNA screening (from 10 weeks), nuchal translucency scan (11–13 weeks 6 days), quad screen (15–22 weeks), anatomy ultrasound (18–22 weeks), glucose screening (24–28 weeks), Tdap vaccine (27–36 weeks), seasonal RSV vaccine (32–36 weeks), Rh immune globulin around 28 weeks if needed and the group B strep test (36–37 weeks). Your provider may schedule things differently.
How often are prenatal checkups?
A typical schedule for an uncomplicated pregnancy is a visit every 4 weeks until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks, then weekly until birth. Tick or untick the checkup option to show or hide these suggested visits.
How do I add the calendar to my phone?
Press Download .ics and open the file. Apple Calendar and Outlook import it directly; in Google Calendar use Settings, Import & export, and choose the file. Events are all-day and marked as free time, so they will not block your schedule.
Can I print the pregnancy calendar?
Yes. Choose Week by week or Month view, then press Print calendar. The page prints only the calendar, without the form and site menus, so you can keep it on the fridge or bring it to appointments.
What if my due date changes after an ultrasound?
Early ultrasound dating often adjusts the due date by a few days. Just enter the new due date and the whole calendar updates. Your inputs are remembered only on this device.
