When a fixed-date holiday falls on a Saturday, federal employees get the preceding Friday off; when it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is observed. The calendar marks those observed days too. If January 1 of next year is a Saturday, the observed New Year's holiday lands on December 31 of this year. Inauguration Day (January 20 after a presidential election, Washington DC area only) is not included.
ISO week numbers explained
ISO 8601 weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year's first Thursday (equivalently, the week containing January 4). A year therefore has 52 or 53 ISO weeks, and the first days of January can belong to week 52 or 53 of the previous year, while the last days of December can be in week 1 of the next year. With a Sunday week start, each row shows the ISO week of its Monday.
Printing tips
Use the PDF for the sharpest result and print it at Actual size / 100% so nothing is cropped.
Landscape fits 4 months across and 3 down; portrait uses a 3 × 4 grid that suits fridge doors and binders.
Black (ink saver) keeps holidays readable on a monochrome printer, and unticking Shade weekends removes the grey fills.
Add a title such as Team PTO 2027 or School Year to label a shared planner on a noticeboard.
Frequently asked questions
What is a year at a glance calendar?
It is a single-page calendar showing all 12 months of a year in small grids, so you can see the whole year at once. It is handy for vacation planning, school terms, project deadlines and counting weeks.
Which holidays are included?
The 11 US federal holidays defined in 5 U.S.C. 6103: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth (from 2021), Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, plus the observed Friday or Monday when one falls on a weekend.
How are the week numbers calculated?
They follow ISO 8601: weeks begin on Monday and week 1 is the week containing the first Thursday of January. Some years have 53 weeks, for example 2026 ends in week 53 and 2027 begins in week 53 of 2026 until Sunday, January 3.
Can I print it on A4 paper?
Yes. Choose A4 or US Letter in landscape or portrait before downloading. The PDF page is exactly that size, so print at 100% (Actual size) for the best fit.
Can I make a calendar for a past or future year?
Yes, any year from 1600 to 2400 in the Gregorian calendar. Holidays are only shown for the years they existed, for example Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 1986 and Juneteenth from 2021.
Is the PDF made on a server?
No. The calendar is drawn on a canvas in your browser and packed into a PDF with a few lines of JavaScript, so it works offline and nothing is uploaded.
