How to use the Social Security Payment Calendar
Enter the day of the month of your birthday (or of the person whose work record pays the benefit). The matching Wednesday group is picked for you.
Change the group if you started benefits before May 1997, get both SSI and Social Security, or get SSI only.
Choose the year to see its 12 payment dates and the countdown to your next one.
Check the notes for payments moved earlier by weekends or holidays.
Save the schedule with Add to calendar (.ics), Print or Copy dates.

Notable date changes in 2026
SSI paid early: January's payment arrives Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year's Day). February's comes Friday, January 30; March's Friday, February 27; August's Friday, July 31; and November's Friday, October 30.
The 3rd group: January 3 is a Saturday, so that payment comes Friday, January 2. May 3 and October 3 also fall on weekends, moving those payments to May 1 and October 2.
Second Wednesday in November: November 11, 2026 is Veterans Day, so the second-Wednesday payment comes one day earlier, on Tuesday, November 10.
January 2027 SSI and 3rd payments both arrive Thursday, December 31, 2026, because January 1 is a holiday and January 3 is a Sunday.
How holidays are handled
Payments are made by direct deposit through the banking system, so this calendar treats a day as a business day when Federal Reserve Banks are open: Monday to Friday, excluding the 11 federal holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas). A holiday on Sunday is observed the following Monday; a holiday on Saturday does not close the banks the day before. The Social Security Administration publishes the official schedule each year, so check it if a date looks unusual.
Frequently asked questions
When do I get my Social Security payment?
If you started benefits after April 1997, the day depends on your birthday: born on the 1st–10th you are paid on the second Wednesday of the month, 11th–20th on the third Wednesday, and 21st–31st on the fourth Wednesday. Spouses and other family members collecting on a worker's record go by that worker's birthday.
Who is paid on the 3rd of the month?
People who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, people who get both Social Security and SSI, and some others (for example when a state pays their Medicare premiums, or they live outside the United States). If the 3rd falls on a weekend or holiday, payment comes on the business day before.
When are SSI payments made?
Supplemental Security Income is paid on the 1st of each month. When the 1st is a Saturday, Sunday or federal holiday, the payment arrives on the previous business day, which is in the month before. That is why some months seem to have two SSI payments and others none.
What happens if a payment date is a holiday?
The payment is made on the preceding business day. Wednesday payments rarely move, but it does happen, for example when Veterans Day, Juneteenth or Christmas falls on the scheduled Wednesday. This calendar uses Federal Reserve banking days: holidays on a Sunday are observed the next Monday, and holidays on a Saturday do not move payments.
Does SSDI follow the same schedule?
Yes. Social Security Disability Insurance is paid on the same birthday-based Wednesday schedule (or on the 3rd for those who qualify). SSI disability payments follow the SSI schedule on the 1st.
What should I do if my payment does not arrive?
Social Security advises waiting three mail or business days after the scheduled date before contacting them, since banks can post deposits at different times. Always treat the Social Security Administration's own published schedule as the official source; this tool applies its standard rules.
